5.0 out of 5 stars Groovy., 13 Sept. 2004

This is GOD. If you havent already got this you need it. Its a big great vocal-less doom sludge type thing. That grows on you with every listen. I cant explain just how huge this is. The guitars sound so huge the riffs are the size of entire universes. The thing is as well is that there is subtlety in there its beautiful. With out a doubt get your hands on this. If its true that this is a limited release make sure you are among those few and blow big raspberries at every one else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Major Label Debut, 13 Sept. 2004
This review is from: Ashes Of The Wake (Audio CD)
After i bought this album. I got scared very scared. Once I bought this album i noticed a few things. The first the producer. A man that goes by the name of Machine. Didnt he produce Static X and One Minute Silence. Have LOG decided to do something a little different. Thrashy rappy blippy bloppy metal maybe. Then I noticed something that nearly made me have a heart attack. MAJOR label. Oh nooo has one of my favourite bands sucumbed to the Dollar. Only one way to find out. Put the CD in the stereo take a deep breath and press play. Sounds like LOG ow yes it is LOG. Its the same deal thrash for the new millenium tighter than a really really tight thing. Maybe the major labels gonna do this band some justice. Hopefully everyone will talk about this band like the way they talk about Chimiera and Killswitch Engage. Metal Is bigger, better and unashamably heavier then before. Raise those Muthaf***** Horns in the air!

Any one reading who dont know D.E.P. There 5 extremely talented musicians who play a a bunch of styles thrown into a melting pot. It leans towards the heavier side of extreme music. Youll get bits of metal, grind, hardcore, jazz, fast, slow. Similar kinds of bands include botch, meshuggah and more its 3am and i really cant think of anymore. SOAD are probably the most popular band that are fans of them.
Dillinger escape plan you either love em or you hate em. This is one band you cant sit on the fence with.
As you can see by my score i love this band. So what do D.E.P 2004 soundlike well like D.E.P really only more. More techinical, more menacing, more singing, more time changes, more softer parts. Really what makes this album different is the singing and the more melodic parts. This guy can sing hes got an excellent voice. So much range. On one song in particular he sounds just like trent reznor. Seriously if you like D.E.P. and have an open mind. Your probably gonna like this. If you like D.E.P but didnt like the Mike Patton featuring E.P. you aint gonna like this. If you dont like D.E.P this probably aint gonna change your mind and why are you here anyway lol. Im gonna tell everyone to listen to this and give it a chance because you never know. This maybe the album that changes your life.
To be honest the package as a whole is a bargain you get an excellent dvd with studio and live footage. If you havent seen em live its a great way to check em out.

5.0 out of 5 stars I must praise thee, 28 Mar. 2004
I must say without a shadow of a doubt that was THE best film of 2003. Before this film came out i absolutely hated Tom Cruise I thought he was over rated and over paid. But i have to say that i was utterly convinced by this performance. I am converted. This is an extremely brutal film, it is very hard to watch. It conveys so much emotion. This is a beautiful film. It shows the pointlessness of racism, and how horrible genocide and war is. I found it very hard to fight back the tears. I will without a shadow of a doubt be buying this amazing film. I also hope that every body in the films gets the praise they deserve. I must say look out for Shun Sugata. Hes an absolute man mountain and great to watch even though he has such a short part.
I refuse to tell any body about what happens in this film. PLEASE rent, borrow, buy you must watch this film!!!
Another film you must see film with tom cruise in is vanilla sky.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spearheading the new wave!!!!, 28 Mar. 2004
This review is from: Determination (Audio CD)
This is God forbid, and boy are they God Damn HUNGRY. This band are at the moment little known. Let me tell you not for long. If there is justice in this world they will be as big as metallica. I saw this band support or shall i say blow away stamping ground years ago. They will be blowing CHimiera, Killswitch Engage, and Shadows fall of the stage as well this June at the Astoria. If you like your metal, heavy, melodic, and technical. This is the band for you. Buy this cd and be proud and wear a S*** eating grin on your face every single time you play it. Who just said slayer.....never heard of em lol!!!!! NuFF Said Asta La Vista Baby!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars NICE, 16 Mar. 2004

This band were on Roadrunner records. At the time where they just had to be hip and at the forefront of nu-metal. Slipknot plagued the airwaves and daytime TV. What can a band do? In this day an age it takes more than being a great band to get noticed you got to have a stupid image! This band didnt get the record sales there label wanted so were then dumped. I must ask how does a band sell records when the label puts all the might into Slipknot. Im probably like most metal fans i have alot of roadrunner albums. I picked this one up accidently as well. But was i glad to do it. This band has talent. There singer could end up with the range of Maynard James Kenan. But sadly we will never know. Pick this up if you want something different. If you like tool. If your a roadrunner completist. Most importantly pick this up if you enjoy great music!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars weirdness and more weirdness, 16 Mar. 2004
This review is from: Written in Waters (Audio CD)
Yes you guessed it the is weird. Just look at the front cover. That has to be the strangest piece of Art i have seen in a long time. The music aghhh the music. Its strange, i cant really stick it in a catagory. They seem to have made there own one. Its sounds to me like Immortal, played backwards. The first track on the album is a mindblower. Then the rest of the album is pretty similar. Im a big Black Metal kinda guy so i cant say how this compares to other bands. But i would say that this would be an essential purchase. The front cover and starting track are worth the price alone, everything else is an added bonus. If you have stumbled across this band buy it they are on Candlelight as well great underground label.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 28 Feb. 2004
This review is from: Misery Loves Co. (Audio CD)
I first seen this band supporting machine head way back in 97. The absolutely blew me away. There was so much negative energy coming from the stage. I could feel the guys pain from the balcony in the Astoria. Six years later i can still remember that show like it was yesterday. It was my second show and believe me ive been to hundreds more. That shows the impact it had on me. The starting track My Mind Still Speaks. Is an extremely powerful opener and is still one. Kiss your Boots is haunting and some times hard to listen to much like the rest of the album. The sound is industrial and but dont be put off the guitars are raw stand out in the mix. Check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breath Taking, 28 Feb. 2004
Are you a Pink Floyd Fan? Sick and tired of waiting for there next album? Ive got an idea for you. Check out Anathema. They are a metal band, yes METAL band. They write amazing songs and music. Its so obvious they adore Pink Floyd. I gotta say this, why do you want this band in NME and MTV2. This band is way beyond any that are in the mag, and on that channel. Can you see them on Gonzo i dont think so. I believe some bands should be left for people who love music enough to search for it. Anathema are for those kind of people. I cant find words to describe this band they are just absolutely amazing. If you ever get the chance see them live. If any body in the band is reading this please play a show its been to long!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Blow me down, 28 Feb. 2004
And thats exactly what it did when i put my grubby hands on it. I, like most people who know of this band found out about them after seeing them live. Its something that you dont forget. This album captures that feeling so well. The production may sound awful to some, but to me its like the greatest tasting cup of tea. The follow up sounds extremely over produced in comparison. Songs oww the songs, fast fast and faster. Its all about procreation really each and everyone of em i think. I compare the to deicide they are satanists after all. Slayer some of the solos will leave kerry dribbling into his napkin while eating the pies. There british, so be proud that you picked a gem from the the british underground. Does anyone remember that T'shirt bearing the logo "She Like Me To Stand While.......". Ive still got it. Bids start at £100!!
