Why did I bother? Probably because it was free.

I agree with others' comments: I found the book hard to get in to but couldn't put it down once it got going. Slight gripes. The book was well written but why on earth do we get simple grammatical errors 'he treaded' rather than 'he trod' and others like that. Certainly didn't spoil the book but did make me wonder why. The ending was a bit rushed (and slightly implausible, gory) but it did cause a sleepless night so I could finish it. Recommended as having a good storyline, pithy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Spoiled by Niggles, 20 July 2015

I enjoyed the story. It was fast-paced, good storyline. Characters did not come to life for me but they were real enough not to spoil the book. I actually wanted to return to it when I had time to read which is always a good sign BUT the writing was sloppy and there were too many errors in grammar and the words used (often wrongly). These got worse as the book progressed. Edit it a bit more and it is certainly a 4-star book.

Not really my sort of book but I found it un-put-downable. Good story, well crafted, well written. Light enough to keep your attention without deep thought and characters all memorable. Sometimes the flashbacks took a couple of paragraphs to realise what they were but they did add to the story. Will read the rest when they become Kindle Freebies!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much wrong, 30 Jun. 2015

Started this - thought it would be good and a page turner. At 19% I had to give up: the grammar and punctuation offended my pedantic soul. I also felt things moved along far too slowly. There was some interesting information - eg the amount of stuff the pathologist has to take with her to a crime scene - but the book just didn't grab me like it should have. Perhaps less useful information and a faster storyline with better editing next time and I'm sure the book will become at least a 4-star.

Was there a point to this? Why grab the reader's attention by using the word 'Erotic'?

This sounded like my sort of book. I kept persevering because of that. I gave up halfway through because I was having to go back to x-ray each time I picked my Kindle up. The book would be a lot better with being reduced and with there being fewer characters - or perhaps make them real enough so the reader can remember who they are. On a positive side, the writing style was good and often humourous, typos were rare enough not to detract from the stor(ies), I enjoyed learning (finally) a bit more about Pool. I'd like to give it more stars but would have preferred not to feel the read to give up on the book. Perhaps sit on the beach and read it in one go?

3.0 out of 5 stars Must We . . . ., 10 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this, thinking it sounded interesting which it was to begin with. The idea was good, the writing is good, I couldn't find many typos.

But then we started. This intelligent-sounding couple who swear that sex is not on the table (pun) are bonking like rabbits within seconds. The whole premise became unbelievable, the storyline became sloppy, the sex appeared on every second page. Too much. I read the first bonkfest - which was well-enough written - skipped the next one, couldn't find the story reappearing so gave up. The characters by this time had become stupid. Shame - I needed a good book to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars It could almost happen to you . . ., 12 Mar. 2015

Brilliant. Well worth reading. One or two quibbles, one or two disbeliefs being suspended (like how did she always get found)? (Notice I'm not giving away the story.) but exciting, fast-paced, believable characters. So well-written: enough description to let you see what was happening without being overdone - and I liked the ending.
