1.0 out of 5 stars 'Wezt' (Somerset) Mendip Way walkers beware., 13 Aug. 2010
This review is from: The West Mendip Way (Paperback)
Buy the Ordnance Survey map and NOT this book if you're walking from Weston-Super-Mare to Wells. Unfortunately it does not help the poorly sign posted route way-butif you purchase the 1:25000 'Explorer' sheet 141 (Cheddar Gorge and Mendip Hills West) you'll have few navigation problems along the 'green diamonds'.Unfortunately 141 does not quite cover the whole route. We started at Uphill and needed 'Landranger 1:50000' sheet 182 to get us going. Try the Arundel B. and B. in Cheddar after the first 20 miles and complete the remaining 10 miles to Wells on day two. Good walking!

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I failed to see this in its original incarnation as an example of the golden age of ITV (cv: adaptation of Waugh's Brideshead). It is an immense epic which is not afraid to confront big issues which continue to haunt us Brits: how we managed the empire; how class still matters; grammar/public school and maleness/maternity. We've loved watching these 14 episodes, though night thoughts ensue in the early hours' wakefulness. Definitely worth buying-at this rate: twelve hours of intrigue and pleasure. How we all hate Meyrick!
