Epic, like the movie!!!!, 13 Sep 2008
Given that James Newton Howard only had a limited time to complete this score, it is a movie masterpiece. The cliche Hollywood style echoes the style of the film, and fits the movie perfectly. Kong's theme is truly epic and does justice to the character, using the brass section to create a tune that sounds if anything 'noble'. Even if that was not enough to convince me of its five star status, then the final motif played during Kong's death which always reduces me to tears, does. All in all this was a well written piece, and although it doesn't match the film in a dramatic way it complements it nicely and 'King Kong' would be nothing without it.
