1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute rubbish, 29 Jun 2013

Im an avid fan of military History and there are some great fictional stories such as Thunder in May by Andy Johnson. This effort however is dismal. The storyline and action is just not belivable. Im not sure where the authour got his combat experience but I suspect it was from reading comics.

I was disappointed with this third book in the series and abandoned reading it half way through. I get the impression that the author was running out of steam. If you were to remove the repetition and constant trivia of what Pacorus is wearing then the book would be one third of its length. I think it contains a lot of padding and fillers with little addition to the plot. The battle scenes are good and obviously well researched.

3.0 out of 5 stars slow start, 27 Mar 2013

This review is from: Parthian Dawn (Kindle Edition)
Not as good as the first book in the series. Very slow start and build up with a lot of repetition for example describing in detail what Pacorus is wearing on any particular day. By the third occasion we can sort of guess that he is wearing his Roman curass, helmet with white feathers and his spatha strapped to his side. Some of the the detail seems just padding such as describing the construction and use of a kettle drum!. Needs to pick up the pace a bit

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish construction, 14 Feb 2013

After seeing the demo on youtube i thought i would give this a go. The design is innovative and should in theory work well however the trigger system is made of plastic. The rat has two options to get to the food bait. It can either push past the trigger and set the trap off which results in its death or it can bite the thin plastic trigger in half and thus render the trap useless. I think you can guess what the first rat to enter my trap decided to do. Rats are not stupid they are very wary of new objects that enter their environment and will explore situations carefully. I purchased an old fashioned designed Fenn trap. This is an all metal spring trap and works everytime.

When target hardening a property perception is often more important than reality. Criminals will want a high return at low risk. Criminologists call this rational choice theory. Normal folk call it common sense!. If you increase the perception that they will be seen then this tends to deter the opportunist thief. They will go and look for a softer target. This product is excellent and its visual appearance is spot on. It is fitted with a flashing red LED however there is no need to activate this as real cameras seldom employ them. I do have a real camera system on my home which is covert and I have used this camera as a visual deterrent. Very good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eczema relief, 26 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Have been suffering from eczema on both arms and legs for about six months. Have tried lots of different potions and lotions as well as prescribed steroids from the Doctor. I tried this cream at the start of a recent flare up as there was a delay in me visiting the Doctor. I was surprised to find that this worked better than the the normal hydrocortisone that the Doctor had been giving me. The flare up reduced within three days. I also backed this up with non steroid cream produced by this company. Best combination product so far. Overnight I have also been using coconut oil and shea butter as a barrier cream. Running internal regime of hi veg / fruit diet with pro biotics. At long last it all seems to be coming together. Eczema on the arms has gone and the legs are now manageable. Found washing with epiderm cream morning and night also helpful as my skin was reacting to some soaps.

3.0 out of 5 stars Explosion of ideas, 21 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Court of the Air (Paperback)
Im an avid fan of fantasy books and steam punk is a new avenue of exploration for me. The ideas behind this book are myriad and fantastic but they explode in all directions. It is a very hard book to read with often difficult transition from one plot line to another. For a first book in a series it should have done more to set the scene and explain the baseline of the concepts. The story plot was confusing and jumping all over the place. On a number of occasions I found that the story line had changed tack and was talking about different people but my mind was still linked to the previous chapter. I have never had this problem with other authors . Like other comments a map would have been really good as well as a glossary of the invented technical terms. The ideas would make a great film or even an interesting "wargame" scenario that would appeal to either computer or miniature gamers. It has great potential and needs a better structure and flow to it. I will try the second book in the series just to give it a fair chance.
