5.0 out of 5 stars I cant recommend this enough, 16 July 2015
I cant recommend this enough, i know people will be sceptical but from the moment i inserted this baby into my AK240 i knew it was worth the cash. So whats 'better' about it?

Firstly it has much more text printed on it than my other card, the print is also in high quality gold colour.

Secondly the songs i played back off this sounded really good, i put my ear up to my walkman and i couldn't hear any noise at all, nada nothing.

Thirdly its fast, i think the lack of extra noise allows the data to slide on and off the card much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the cash!, 8 Sept. 2012
These are worth it just for the excellent imaging and soundstage, the sound quality is very good , the only issue i can sight is that the bass is a little flabby , this may improve with burn in.
These are the most comfy headphones i own (and i own a lot).
I would be happy with these for anything under £50 to be honest, wonder what the ma500 is like!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you get no Bass you havent got them in right., 30 Nov. 2008
Ok , bought these a couple of weeks ago, i have several mid - high end headphones and earphones including Grados, Audio Technicas and Shures.
Ok i will get the bad out the way , the bass on these is a little light and doesnt have a large range, what is there is tight and accurate but it doesnt extend down very far.
2nd bad point is the microphonics , it is quite bad , if the cables are moved or rubbed it is clearly heard in the phones. If you use the cable tightner under your chin it helps.
Ok with that out the way lets talk about the good points, Mids on these are delicious , expansive , expressive and detailed. They actually challenge the mids on my Shure 530s.
Treble is very good also , not too splashy , not sibilant and extends quite far in range.
These are a bargain at £17.99 and i think some people who are used to cheaper earphones will not like them, a lot of cheap in ear phones have masses of messy , thumpy bass , no real definition but some people associate it with quality???
Overall , buy these if you listen to a lot of vocal, acoustic or even classical but if Hip-Hop or dance is your thing avoid them even at £17.99.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value (at £29.99) one flaw, lots of pluses!!!, 12 Dec. 2007
Ok lets get the flaw out of the way , this player has a 50 folder / 500 song limit, thats it..
You can work within it though ,I have 390 songs on the internal memory, i have a 2gb Micro sd that i have 110 on. I have set up 44 folders with artist names and 1 on the sd card called various (the player uses 5 folders at root level).

Ok now the good , this player uses the same DAC as the 1st gen ipod shuffle , the 1st gen shuffle is the best sounding Ipod ever.
The output is clean, has well defined bass and treble and the mids are right where they should be.
Navigation is ok, its file tree so i like it but if you are used to an ipod you will probably find it tricky at first.
The FM Radio reception is good (get about 5 stations perfectly - about 4 not so good).

Overall very good value

5.0 out of 5 stars Sonys best effort yet!, 4 May 2006
Ok they started with the HD1 , a beautiful player but no MP3, replaced this with the HD3 , it had MP3 but looked like a poor mans HD1. The HD5 is a great player but the design is well, boring.

Sonys flash players have had better sales (biggest selling flash player in Japan) the A608 is what i had , 2gb , fm radio, great sound BUT looked a bit like a perfume bottle.

I say had as i replaced it last week with a 2gb e005 Walkman Flash.

The new e-series Walkman Flash are in my opinion the best MP3 player Sony have released yet, they are small , light , cheap , sound great and are VERY easy to use.

Sony have thankfully dropped the Connect software for this release and it ships with Sonicstage 3.4 (the best release yet - very stable).

The player has a one line Oled display , i thought this would make it harder than the 3 line A608 to navigate but it doesnt at all, if anything the button placement makes the Walkman Flash faster and easier to use, you can search by artist, album or all songs and it is all controlled with a 2 way rocker on the side and the play button to select - one handed use a doddle (unlike the A608).

The player has a new option - the d-normalizer, this is coooool it basically trys to make all your tunes play at the same volume, i say try because i would say it manages it with nearly all my tracks but my doors album is so quiet you can still notice it a little on that record but overall a great feature.

The player also has a full 5 band equalizer unlike our favourite soap bar.

The 2gb vesion i bought has no radio but the manual refers to a 2gb fm version so i may upgrade to that when it comes out.

The battery lifeis great also , i used mine for 3 hrs a day for 5 days (mp3s at 128/192 mostly) and it only drpped to 3/4!

Overall this is the best mp3 Sony has released , it beats all others in the price range and Sony is releasing lots of accessories for it.

Bravia Sony Bravia!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great sounding , flexable music player/recorder!, 17 Aug. 2005
I bought this a few days ago , this is a quick review.
Very nice for the price (i payed £80) , i think it looks better than any other low range minidisc sony have released. The front is shiny , it feels a bit like the surface of my DNE10. The back is black also and is matt finish. The silver disc on the front may or may not be metal , you cant really tell but it does feel colder than the rest of the unit. The buttons and jog dial are also high quality and the joystick is the same as my NH900.
It feels solid and there is NO movement when the door is shut (my nh900 moves a bit)
The screen is very clear even in sunlight , much better than my nh900 which is unreadable in most conditions.
Sonicstage 3.2 is what i use, this ships with 3.0. I am sure you are all familiar with it.
This unit does not appear to have a digital amp (no icon on back of player or mention in manual). I have read a lot about MP3 playback being crippled on these players. I have found no issue with MP3 playback, 256 MP3 compared with Hi-SP sounded very similar, hard to tell apart.
I tested 132 atrac3 vs 128 MP3 and did notice that Atrac had slightly more treble but nothing to worry about.
I would say that if you want MP3 playback this unit is very good, i compared MP3 playback with my DNE10 and the difference is not in detail , there is nothing missing with MP3 on the RH710 it just sounds like it has more bass.
Now i hacked the unit and got the full equalizer (no real volume increase however) i then put 4khz up 1 notch and 10khz up 2 and could not tell the difference between this and my DNE10!.
I use PX200 and HJE50s.
I left it running overnight on repeat with a AA in it playing MP3s at 128-192and got to 17hrs and still had a bar left with no flashing , so ii guess 19 hours is about right.
Usual features , recorded White Stripes DVD optically with no issues at all.
I recommend highly, i got it at a good price but anything under £100 is a fair price imho.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is a cracker filler, 9 Jan. 2005
Bought a couple of weeks ago, Sounds really good on paper but thats all. THIS PLAYER HAS RANDOM CLICKS AND POPS whilst playing music. These noises are not on original file and if you rewind they disappear. I emailed creative and they told me to check there website, i did and the forum is full of other people with the same issue. On a sidenote the player also buzzes in your ear when the back light is on. AVOID THIS PLAYER - i have sold mine and bought the new sony nw-e99 and couldnt be happier with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars E99 is fine , fine , fine, 7 Jan. 2005
Got this last week, for the record THIS PLAYER DOES PLAY MP3 NATIVELY it includes MP3 manager software on the player itself for easy transfer. I dont use mp3 as i have already converted all my MP3s into atrac but i loaded a few to seee what the sound quality is like - in a word crystal.
Great build quality - mostly metal
Tiny size - matchbox
Great sound - goes very loud too
Good price for 1gb
Good capacity
Very very slight hiss in background when backlight lit , not noticable with supplied headphones or during music.
Disappears when backlight off.
Player has 2 512mb drives, i like that but some may see it as a hastle ( i use one for going to work on shuffle the other on the way home)
All in all i dont think you will be disappointed with this player

5.0 out of 5 stars Hd1 heaven!!!, 2 Oct. 2004
I love this player, sold my 3g ipod , was giong to get 4g then spotted this. It is tiny, more masculine looking than the ipod and sounds great. I had to convert MP3s to atrac format but i just had to point the software at my collection and tell it to start converting, it took 3hrs to convert and transfer 10gb of MP3, they sound great as well. Sony have announced plans to add mp3 support also but i think i will stick with atrac3 as when recorded from cd it sounds better than mp3 to me. The mp3s i converted sound fine, i expected them to sound worse but i cant notice the difference ( i encoded them to atrac at 132kbps).
This player desereves to do well and if sony honour the promise to add direct mp3 support i think it can compete well with the ipod, after all it sounds better!
