5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and original, 17 Jun. 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I'll be blunt; this game is brilliant. The story is almost non-existent until a twist at the end, but that doesn't matter. The realism is good, you actual have to travel this massive world searching for the massive creatures you have to slay. Sadly, there is one bad thing; the character you play as. He is weedy, slow, makes annoying noises, basically in general you want to personally smash his brains out... One light shake from a Colossus and he flips around in the air. Couldn't they just make him at least average weight?

Anyway, that doesn't matter that much. There's replay value in Time-attack mode, Hard mode, and Hard Time-attack mode, for really good players, and also there's unlockable stuff (invisibility cloak, exploding arrows, a brown horse, etc.).

I suggest if you like, well... actually, just play this game and make out for yourself; it's like no other. 5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars The best stealth-shooter. Ever., 15 April 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game has many ways to finish the game, so replay value is high. Going around shooting is fun, but what the best way to play the game is by mixing action and stealth to bump off your target. One bad point, though, is that the Japanese levels get repetitive. And people complain that Hitman 47 'slides' around. Well, he does. But ID made it like that on purpose. It makes it individual. There are also updated levels from 'Codename 47: Hitman' (the first Hitman game) so that makes it a plus for people without a computer, since 'Codename' is for PC only (I have a Mac).
The graphics are next-gen PS2 graphics, and there are also quite disturbing parts, like the sick level in a meat-packing factory (use your imagination to figure out what goes on there!), and also the levels are varied.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm, 15 April 2006
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I don't know about this one. The gameplay is fairly hard, but not too hard, and there IS A LOT OF SWEARING (someone else complained about this, but just to tell them that this is meant to be set in 60's/70's Vietnam war, and you are in the army, not shooting cardboard cut-outs in a nice sunny field. Army captains and other high-ranked soldiers are usually very cruel to their soldiers they are meant to be helping. The profound, disgusting language gives it a sense of realism, showing that not all soldiers are nice).

Overall though, the game is quite fun. The weapons you get are good, and there are loads. But one problem is that is doesn't show Vietnam realistically. The jungles are NOT dense, like Vietnam, there aren't many VC' to actually fight, mostly you will be fighting either lots of traps, or the urge to sell it.

Make your own decision on this game, because I am really unsure on whether it is good or not.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth a look, but nothing spectacular, 15 April 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
First of all, this game IS a lot of fun. Blasting people away with the devastating arsenal of weapons is good. The's lots of gore. You can see their guts come out and brains splatter. But there are lots of bad things. The graphics are not Xbox worthy (The characters lips move slightly, but their teeth don't). This came out after lots of other games, such as Halo or something, but they are graphics made for a later-generation PS2 game.

The story is almost the (superior) SoF 1's storyline, just different levels.

The guns aren't as fun. They all really exist, which is not good. SoF 1 had a Microwave pulse gun and other stuff like the Slugthrower. Now they make it 'realistic', not basing it on crazy violent fun like SoF 1.

On the good side, it is a lot of fun once you put the glitches, bad graphics and boring guns behind you.

It is worth a look, but don't be too anxious to play it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall good game -- plus a mapmaker!, 9 April 2006
When I bought this game, I thought "This is gonna be a good FPS, but I'll trade it back after I finish it."
Then I booted it up. Sadly, you HAVE to watch the opening movie EVERY TIME, but after that it is good and easy to use. I saw the 'Map editor' and said to myself "Fantastic, a mapmaker -- I won't be trading this in too soon" and got making my first map - It was very easy to use. But then I realised that the mapmaker wasn't what I bought it for.
The story is simple; You, Jack Carver, are touring on a small island with someone taking pictures of the surroundings, but you (not Jack Carver, you yourself) don't know why. She goes off on a speeder, leaving you on your own in your boat. Then stuff starts to happen. Two helicopters bombard your boat, for no apparent reason, and you escape into the islands foliage, and have learn to survive, or be killed by your pursuers.
Story - 8/10 (It doesn't go into depth enough, but is still compelling.)
Graphics - 10/10 (The island's leaves brush against you, and the water glimmers in your eyes. And the blood splatters as your spiked tree-trunk trap smashes them squarely in the stomach.)
Gameplay - 9/10 (Extremely fun, but the vehicles driving system drags it downn one point. You can run-and-gun, but you'll probably end up dead, so take some time to plan out a strategy.)
Guns - 9/10 (Nice sounds, but only holding one pistol and one main gun isn't enough. There is a lot of variety in the guns though.)
Extra touches - 10/10 (Your instincts that you learn are deadly and devastating, the sounds of the jungle are off-putting and eerie, and traps are a very nice addition.)
Overall: FC Instincts is a good game. If you like FPS' buy it for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the greatest shooter, but still Top 10 stuff., 8 April 2006
This review is from: Killzone (PS2) (Video Game)
When I first saw this game in the adverts, I thought "Wow, space nazi's invading earth... cool" and decided it would be a good laugh to get it. I booted up Killzone, started the campaign. It really captured me, and I played for days 'til I finished it. There were plenty of twists in the plot, but some were a bit obvious :-(
Still, It is NOT up to Halo or BLACK standards, but very close.
Graphics - 7/10 (they are outdated now, but good for the time)
Gameplay - 10/10 (fast, furious with a bit of thinking... perfect)
Re-playability - 8/10 (some levels are great to do again, and multiplayer is superb)
Sound - 8/10 (overall good sound, but some of your teams phrases are extremely repetitive and annoying. Good gun sounds though)
Guns - 9/10 (a wide variety of weapons, I love the combat Helghast knife, but sniper rifle [I love sniping] - a pile of sh**)
So why are you still here? Go and order it now, silly person!

5.0 out of 5 stars You wouldn't believe what's going on 'round the back!, 7 Jan. 2006
"I was in the Delhi last night, and there all these mangos' gruntin'. Grunt grunt grunt! Still, it shows they're ripe, I suppose. Oh god, these mind things! Mind things...!"
Vic Reeves is one of the best modern comedians today. You can quote him, and not feel embarrassed, and when watching big night out, you can crack up laughing when something bizarre happens. Like 'The Man With The Stick', or 'Action! Image! Exchange!'. Surreal and absolutely hilarious, with great characters like Les and Mr. Wobbly Hand, it makes this DVD almost perfect for any comedy lovers collection.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible atempt at a game, ruined the FF tradition, 7 Jan. 2006
This game was excruciatingly embarrassingly oh-so-terribly bad. they add humour, but the level of humour is embarrassing, and the 'cute' character was annoying, really really annoying. And the 'Girl Power'? Don't get me started on the girl power! Every level, or, in complete un-final fantasy way, 'missions' there's at least one reference to Girl Power. Who do they think they are? The Spice Girls? And theres the idea of missions, boy that sucked. Ruined the whole game, even more. So linear! No freedom whatsoever. There's the plot, too; why? why did it have to be that? "Oh, hello, I'm Yuna! I dance and find 'spheres' for a living! I'm so happy, even though THE ONE TRUE LOVE OF MY LIFE TURNED OUT TO BE DEAD IN THE PREQUEL!!!"
Jeez, man, it ruined my faith in Square. But it's not Squaresoft's fault. Anyway FF fans avoid this game. In fact non-FF fans should give this a miss too.
Just don't even THINK about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't listen to anyone else, this game rocks!, 7 Jan. 2006
Whoever says this game is not as Halo 1, you're right. Combat Evolved is the No.1 best shooter ever, followed by... Halo 2! The campaign mode is shorter than CE, but still you want to play it over and over again. Not as good as No.1 (CE) but never the less, better than any other shooter out to date! Buy it! >:o~
