5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Philip Glass, 28 April 2011
Recently saw the City of London Sinfonia play Symphony 2, and just had to buy a copy. Great performance of both pieces, although I prefer the more minimal Symphony 2. Buy it!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very much Alive Alive O!, 8 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Alive Alive O! (Audio CD)
I have listened to this album since I was a small kid. my dad still has it on LP. I have looked for this on CD for many years and bought it as soon as I saw it had been re-released. I was not disappointed, and the guitar playing is even better than I remember it. As this was from Jose's great period of fame (mid 60s to mid 70s), does that make him one of first "World music" stars (he is strictly speaking latin),although he has never stopped playing and is still going strong today. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars The saga continues......., 5 Feb. 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Great addition to the series. Very inventive, highly amusing and with longevity built in as the challenge mode (2nd time round) is significantly more difficult than the initial run through.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first and one of his best!!, 28 Nov. 2009
This review is from: My Aim Is True (Audio CD)
Elvis' debut album played with a pick-up band (all the musicians from an American band called Clover minus the singer Huey Lewis (later famous with "and the News"), before finding the Attractions. Not one mediocre song on the whole album and contains possibly his best in 'Alison'.

Now has a much expanded track listing

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great record, 28 Nov. 2009
Not the best record Dream Theater has ever done, but they are so prolific that even their 'good' stuff is head and shoulders above most other bands 'great' stuff. Best tracks are Wither and A Rite of Passage, but not really a 'bad' track among them.

Covers are excellent and well chosen, so worth getting hold of that edition

5.0 out of 5 stars Latterday masterpiece, 28 Nov. 2009
When a band has been making records for 30 years+, and you have been listening to their output for the same length of time, you sometimes think that there is little they could turn out to surprise you. However, this has never been the case with RUSH as they have constantly evolved in that time and this is one of their very best.
Great music, thought-provoking lyrics (as usual), but actually put together to form great SONGS ,which are more than the sum of their parts.
Highly recommended!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Much missed guitar genius, 28 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Originally saw this on the TV, bought it on VHS, and snapped it up when it was released on DVD. Quite brilliant, and a great representation of his later work, although NOTHING on film or record/tape/DVD could possibly replace having seen him live, as I did in 1982 and on his last tour. For those not so lucky, buy it and be both amazed and entertained.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous return to form, 28 Nov. 2009
This review is from: By A Thread (Audio CD)
I always buy everything that the Mule put out as they are miles ahead of most bands, even when not firing on all cylinders, although the last 2 albums (showing my age again!!!) haven't been their best. By A Thread, however, is one of their best, with 11 great tracks. Standouts are Broke Down on the Brazos (with guest Billy Gibbons on fine form), Gordon James and Scenes from a Troubled Mind. Just buy it and immerse yourself in one of THE best albums of 2009

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read, 28 Nov. 2009
This review is from: Horses (Paperback)
I heard an adaptation of this on BBC digital radio, so I hunted the book down. Great read, concise and highly evocative, grabs the attention, just what a novella/short story should do.
