3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but no english language or english subtitles, 3 Jan 2014
I have given this 3 stars simply because there is no English language or English subtitled version. If the producers could find it in their hearts to issue the English language version, I will change my rating. I also believe it would sell far more too.

5.0 out of 5 stars timeless masterpiece, 10 Dec 2013
This was for its time a ground breaking movie. The acting is brilliant and the film is seamless leading to a bloody ending.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why bother Tom?, 13 Nov 2013
I have read the Reacher books. Tom Cruise is simply nothing like the character in the books. Acting is wooden too

1.0 out of 5 stars Lies!!, 12 Sep 2013
What a typical Hollywood hash of a true story. The Director completely told lies about the NZ involvement in this story. Then admitted it and refused to apologise!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome war film, 28 Dec 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I saw this film when it first came out. At that time the censors in the UK had given it an X rating. The film was made on a fairly low budget, as were most Hammer films, but the director is one of the best at that time. It rates along with the best of the war films ever made and being in B&W gives it more effect like The Train for example. The film has had cult status for many years now. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome war film, 29 July 2010
I saw this film only recently at the cinema. Its title belied the drama that ensued when the RAF officer, Jack, was found by the German soldier who was then killed. The subsequent events show the drama faced by the schoolboy and his family in helping Jack escape. A nice twist is the revealing of a traitor in the ranks of the Dutch towards the end of the film. Excellent performances all round and quite a disturbing story.

I went to New Plymouth to see this show on Sat 27 Feb 2010 at the TSB Bowl. It was a fantastic evening, wonderful music and great humour from Cliff and the Shadows. So I'm nw going to buy the DVD as a remembrance of that performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reminds me of another film, 29 Sep 2009
This wartime propaganda story by Graham Greene was well put together when you consider that England was in the midst of a mighty battle against Nazi Germany when it was made. Good actors would have been few and far between as was film equipment and of course locations.

Some years later a book called The Eagle Has Landed was written by Jack Higgins. This was made into a film starring Michael Caine, Robert Duvall, and Donald Sutherland in 1976. It is remarkable that the story line for both fims is almost exactly the same. I'm surprised there's been no legal action!! The Eagle Has Landed [Blu-ray] [1977]
