Doctor Who - Remembrance Of The Daleks [DVD] [1987]
Dvd ~ Sylvester McCoy

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, 10 May 2006
this was one of the last 8 stories of the last shows made in the original series, and showed quite an upturn in quality and production values, as well as effects and story telling.

McCoy had become serious, and not a 'panto' doctor as per season 24, his doctor showed the first signs of being all knowing and somewhat manipulative to the situations that he was in, later on, almost callous in the way he used people in the last stories (curse of fenric etc)

This story really does herald back to the dalkes early days when they were a force to be reckoned with, however, after a few of the early stories, they bacame a tool to pull in the veiwers, rather than an enemy that the doctor and his gang would accidently come across every now and then.

althoug just over two years had passed since the last dalek story, this one was transmitted on the start of season 25, and was an excellent story for the show, both of the season and in its history.

the only thing that still bugs me to this day, was the destruction on Skaro, when the peace loving thals seemed to live there too.. etc etc, so some explanation seems to be lacking

all in all, if your a doctor who fan, this is a serious must for you

I have been an active spiritualist since i was 16, and have read many books on spirituism and mediumship from different people, each with their own 'tilt' on their beliefs.
I think books like this help people to understand someone else's belief or tries to shed a little education on a religion/way of life which is often frowned upon or made fun of by the media (eg. horror films etc).
This book de-mystifies mediumship big style, and shows us that communication between the two worlds is just a natural gift which some people enhance throughout their lives.
whether you believe or not, this book is is for you because, it shows us that no matter what experiences we go through, a little bit of faith helps us all

This review is from: Head On [VHS] (VHS Tape)
it's not just a gay drama... well it is, but it goes deeper, strong character backgrounds, both of the lead cast and the supporting actors, each had something to offer, and what really stands out for me, is that the actions of one, can have such an impact on others, even if only remotely connected..
there is also a good element of sympathy towards the lead character, but also one could very easily identify and empathise with him.

5.0 out of 5 stars antithesis of bad, 30 Mar 2006
fantastic story from beginning to end... and believable too. Although there were some changes from the norm: no tardis scanner etc, but the strong build of characters other than the doctor and sarah jane were good, even had a background to them, which one or two stories have lacked in the past.
you must watch for the moment sutekh stands up, watch for the hand that holds his cushion in place!!
i think that things like that made dr who what it was

5.0 out of 5 stars just as i remember, 11 Sep 2005
what can i say, my earliest television memory was that of Benny Hawkins leaving is wedding Carnationon the side of his dying wife to be. i would have been four that year!
the episode by todays standards may seem rather slow paced, but believe me the plots, the characters and the general flair of the show was fantastic and we must bear in mind that it really does suit the time in which is was made.
my fave episode is when the motel catches fire, a slow build up to a very dramatic end!! well worth buying
