Amost perfect and works fine with Biotherme chips, 11 Jan. 2010
This was the third catflap we bought (at some expense!) and we certainly made it third time lucky. The other flaps were the Catmate Elite which required a tag to be worn by the cat, the problem being that they would be lost at a cost of ~£10 a pop, and it was also very noisy to operate. The other flap required a constant power source which was messy, and prone to being accidentally switched off by mistake.
The Sureflap is ideal though. We were hesitant at first because our cat has a modern dual-function Biotherme chip which is reported to be less effective in these chip-sensing devices, however we needn't have worried as the flap works perfectly and our kitten soon got the hang of going in and out freely.
It is worth mentioning that the first catflap we received was faulty, reporting low battery even with fresh batteries installed. However I contacted the company direct and they were extremely prompt in replacing the item, full marks.
The only improvements I would make are to possibly add a sensor to automatically lock the flap at night. Otherwise, a perfect product and great for keeping out the neighbourhood bullies!!
