3.0 out of 5 stars live comp with two or three new songs., 7 Aug. 2012
This is a live compilation. It obviously angered some reviewers; but at the time , it didn't bother me too much. I was so happy that they were touring (it was the 90's biggest tour event! sales wise too) that I was glad to get a few new songs live. I do think they should have put out a whole cd on live tracks from the past. However if you got the japanese version then you got another live track as well(new york groove). the u.s and u.k version had two kiss alive outtakes on it ; two timer and room service. I think the anger that people feel towards this is misplaced. after all I had paid the same amount for bootlegs to get extra tracks before or more. Sure it was lame not to find more than two or three songs (japanese) but that is just the way it went and if you are a completist then you have to have this one. I do agree that this could have easily been a cd of unreleased live versions. but the guy who called all the tracks garbage doesn't like kiss imo.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great xtart to a classic band, 7 Aug. 2012
This review is from: Grand Funk (Remastered) (Audio CD)
this band was hated by critics but then they hated all hard rock bands. ANd this was a early hard rockin outfit. in 1969 these guys won over the world by their live shows. Not critical success. This is their start , the red album as it also is known proclaimed that the band was here. and they lay down some hard late sixties rock here that sounds powerful and well played and sung. They even do a great cover of the animals ,inside looking out. their next one was even better and they kept getting better rising to the top of the pile at least until 1076. If you like early hard rock that's well sung and played you should enjoy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful melodies soar here., 7 Aug. 2012
This review is from: Confessions of the Mind (Audio CD)
the hollies had released the pop classic 'hollies sing hollies' and then came this one. It had the big hit 'too young to be married' and what a true song that is for too many people! and other well crafted rock and pop rock track that still sound wonderful today. This one wasn't their biggest but it was a great disc. If you like soaring harmonies and well played rock pop then this one is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars their seventies best?, 7 Aug. 2012
This review is from: Hollies (Audio CD)
This one was the bands best release of the 70's. After this they put out some fine discs 'another night' , 'a crazy steal' etc but this was more rock orientated than those fine ones which are more pop rocky perhaps. I still think those others were good though. This one though is so solid as a rock n roll cd that it's heads above what came after. At this point they sounded as competitive with any rock band out there. It has the hit's 'out on the road' and the huge hit ' the air that I breathe'
that is still a fantastic workout in vocal ability.

3.0 out of 5 stars silly fun! on blu ray., 6 Aug. 2012
back in the 1990's wesley snipes was a big star and stallone was fading a bit. But still making a list movies. This was a high budget sci fi movie that is one of the silliest movies of snipes career. although his career these days is straight to dvd films which are low budget. The film features stallone going after escaped cryogenically frozen criminals. Jeffery dahmer (the milwaukee cannibal who ate many young men) is even mentioned and he killed in prison right before this one came out. However there are some of the silliest lines in history as sandra bullock has to say with a straight face to slys character , 'all the resteraunts are taco bells now!" really? taco bell must have financed this movie completely! lol. Anyways it is a over the top b movie type plot with alot of money to make it look great. (for autdiences in 1993 especially and that's what counts with older movies , not how they look to todays dvd watchers!). this is silly and is probably on many critics worst of lists. But I like cheesy movies alot so I say fans of cheese this one is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars great blu ray, decent flick., 6 Aug. 2012
This one just tried to throw to much into one movie. The plot got lost a bit. The actors all did a fine job but they couldn't save this movie. Which was decent but came out the same week as titanic. Which sank this at the boxoffice! The blu ray looks outstanding though. It isn't a terrible movie, but much more of a solid understandable plot was needed. At the time johnathon harris was still alive and he liked gary oldman's version of dr. smith. and it is a highlight of the movie. It's a entertaining movie but it just sortof loses cohesion at vaerious places.

5.0 out of 5 stars a hot show., 5 Aug. 2012
This review is from: Caught in the Act (Audio CD)
In 1975 this band was one of the worlds hottest! They would collapse (drus, arguments) soon afterward in 1977 only two years later. They would never rise to this level again and now have been on the oldies circuit for decades. But if they had kept to the path they were on they could have stayed at the top for many years after this one. On this one however we hear them tear it apart in a blistering conert filled with hits sung and played well. They do everything right here and at this point everyone assumed that they were gonna stay up in the stratosphere. They thought so too and this concert is a testament to that. Every song just rocks here and they were burning it down totally.

3.0 out of 5 stars serosmith still in the game., 5 Aug. 2012
This review is from: Rock in a Hard Place (Audio CD)
aerosmith was still in the game. JOe perry was absent though and this one did have some radio play with the song 'lightening strikes' but it wasn't focused in some ways. The guitarist here is a very good one. ( Crispo) and the genre is melodic metal, this did sell but at the time , it seemed like a band still struggling hard to get back on track. At least this one rocks. And it's not a bad disc but just a more average release from a great band. this did sell enough to go gold though, but a stronger effort was needed and the band would deliver on that to make them rise to the top and beyond when 'permanant vacation' came out.

5.0 out of 5 stars rush gains further ground., 5 Aug. 2012
This review is from: Permanent Waves (Audio CD)
rush was a big prog metal band (that had hit fm radio songs ) for the first 7 years of it's existance , then it became more accessible with this one. And it was able to do that and create music that was very ecclectic and thoughtful. This one had the two big radio songs 'free will' and 'spirit of the radio" on it as well. This was just a fine piece of song writing and singing. This wasn't a themed disc either. although their past work was masterfull this one really helped them gain even more fans. It's still a form of prog metal in genre though. which is a good type indeed.

The Bunker [DVD]
The Bunker [DVD]
Dvd ~ Anthony Hopkins

4.0 out of 5 stars the best hitler movie until 'downfall' came out., 5 Aug. 2012
This review is from: The Bunker [DVD] (DVD)
Until the germans made 'downfall' in 2004 this was the best and most realistic hitler movie around. Anthony Hopkins nails the later day hitler. Only bruno ganz does it better and not by much!. THis was made for tv too and didn't have the budget that the later movie did. It was made in the early 1980's and it looks pretty good on dvd. It's standard ratio too because widescreen tv didn't exist yet. All in all this is a very good production and if you haven't seen downfall" then you won't compare it to that one which is a good thing, as this is a tv movie.
