Makes me pine for travel, 21 Nov 2013
There was a scene in this movie where he's sitting next to a tree in a desert with flies all around him. There is nothing around, nowhere to buy food or water. Soon, he ends up in some god-forsaken run-down town with an ugly sickness (dengue?) and a well-meaning doctor. No modern comforts, just a bed and crossed fingers.
Something so excruciating about these scenes - something genuine that reminds us of the severity of travel, that the experience of travel seems to feel as ambivalent about us as we do about it.
I loved this movie, and I loved how far into the depths he went for Love, and how honestly he chose to show it to us.
