5.0 out of 5 stars Furry Ferocity, 29 Jun. 2010
If You imagine a cross between Garfield and The Young Ones,You've got a rough idea of what Bear is about.Bear is a teddy bear,a talking teddy bear ,He lives with his owner Karl and His Nemesis Looshkin a psychotic ,sadistic blue cat.The style is certainly reminiscent of Jhonen Vasques but the essential Britishness shines through and lends a certain charm to violence and profanity. If you enjoy violence and profanity this volume and it's sequel, Demons are sure to please.

Fans of IZ will know what to expect, newcomers will discover the darkest ,most disturbing children's cartoon ever made.Zim is an alien from the planet IRK,He is arrogant, concieted and accident prone,His only ally in his campaign to conquer Earth is his deranged, food obsessed robot Gir.Ranged against him is Dib a large headed conspiracy theorist who is the only person to realise Zim's true nature and purpose. This second volume features more nightmarish imagery and unspeakable horror and is a must for every fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABC WARRIORS : KRONICLES OF KLASS, 17 Dec. 2008
This book is a total delight, the art is glorious and the script is well-written and funny. The humour has an un-mistakeably britsh flavour and is refreshingly cynical. The characters are well-drawn,particularly the splendidly evil Blackblood and the transvestite sniper Joe Pineapples. All in all, this book combines excellent visuals, a plot that leavens it's gorier moments with black humour and a host of memorable scenes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A HEROIC MONSTER, 15 Nov. 2008
This review is from: The Bloody White Baron (Hardcover)
This book is a well-written and lucid account of a fascinating figure. The baron was a man out of his time,he would have been perfectly at home as victorian adventurer and he might have died peacefully in his bed.As it was in a new century of political turmoil, his career was short and bloody. The author deftly decribes the life and times of a man who pre-figured the holocaust and the worst aspects of the twentieth century. The fact that he was also a devout buddist is just one of his contradictions. The only real flaw with book is the lack of illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Return of a classic, 24 Oct. 2008
This was the first comic i ever bought, twenty or so years ago and it is still one of my favourites. The story is probably the best Joker tale and the art is un-paralled.This edition is if anything an improvement on the original having Brian Bolland's own colours which are a delight in themselves. This book might be the definitive version of this seminal graphic novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars mannock : another biography, 21 Sept. 2008
In as much as any further coverage of Maj. Edward mannock v.c is to be welcomed, this volume adds little of new interest however, the section regarding the grave site of maj. mannock seems unnecessary and morbid.surely what is important and should be emphasised is his record as one britain's best ww1 fighter pilots and perhaps the best patrol leader of the war.
