5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, 27 Jun 2014

This book is almost impossible to put down, but it is so riveting that you also want to make it last!. Wilson brilliantly and concisely charts the Navy's development over a millennium, At times. it was in serious decline, but common sense and reason prevailed and a number of close calls worked out well in the end, chiefly through the unique British character and qualities. The Navy was indispensable and central to the development of the greatest empire the world has ever seen.

For anyone who loved his classic cult status CD "Jazz pa svenska", this does not compare in any way. He and his fellow musicians are having a great time jamming and improvising, but it is lacking in emotional depth. I would recommend it only to anyone who wants light background music.

Johansson's interpretation of Swedish folk songs has made him a national treasure. They are simply distilled versions of the underlying songs that achieve the seemingly impossible; they improve on the originals and are spiritual and achingly beautiful.

The authors weekly column in the Saturday FT magazine is a treat. They drill down into less general issues than the book, such as "How important is luck" the other week. They are so brilliant that I tear them out and keep them in a folder.

This book is highly important to anyone prepared to challenge their own assumptions on what truly matters in life and to question their values. Sadly, it will be lost on most of us.

This is a must for anyone fascinated by the behind-the-scenes events of WW2. It has a good pace, and the immediacy that stems from being written not that long after the war. Intrepid was a highly successful and wealthy Canadian industrialist who made a contribution that possibly changed the course of history.

5.0 out of 5 stars NC 10 Leather Case, 16 May 2009
This is a quality product, as it should be at that price! It is elegant with perfect stitching, and the outside is an attractive dark brown leather. The magnetic clasp locks firmy. It certainly adds to my enjoyment of the fabulous NC10! The only downside is that if dropped on a hard floor, it would not offer great protection.
