2.0 out of 5 stars Spend more., 21 Jan. 2014

Looks cheap. Spend more on a better looking proper leather shoe.

I don't need to say anything more but must reach the minimum word count for a review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Watchface awesome, strap terrible, 21 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The spy-style watchface looks great. At first you may struggle to tell the time but you get used to it. On the other hand, the strap is cheap-looking cloth. However, replace it with a black leather strap then you will have an outstanding-looking watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the fastest albums ever, 21 Jan. 2014

If not the fastest album ever, it must be close. There is practically no let-up. The speed is incessant and the quality never drops. You will always listen to this in its entirity for almost half an hour of crazy riffs, solos and vocals. The air-guitaring will be vigarous. Dodgy lyrics aside, this is simply essential for any thrash fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit more complicated than "The Enigma of Life", 21 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Perils Of The Deep Blue (Audio CD)
For those who felt "The Enigma of Life" was too stripped down, streamlined and simplified, "Perils of the Deep Blue" provides more progressive and experimental elements whilst still remaining melodic. "Seven Widows Weep" is a stunning comeback track, comparable to the band's best. On a couple of occasions, tracks unexpected move into electronic poppy sections before returning to symphonic metal. "Stille Kom Døden" shows that songs don't have to be sung in English to sound impressive. It also shows the virtue of extended instrumental passages. Although not perfect, this is plenty of impressive material here for a Sirenia / symphonic metal fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Nightwish-lite, 21 Jan. 2014

This review is from: Colours In The Dark (Audio CD)
It is a cliche to say Tarja is good but obviously not as good as Nightwish. "Colours in the Dark" is her most adventurous and diverse album to date, even featuring the musical equivalent of a dream sequence at one point (in "Lucid Dreamer"). Opener "Victim of Ritual" is one of numerous stunning tracks that Tarja has now written.

Overall, this is a relatively upbeat album (which alone differentiates it from a Nightwish album!) There is very little not worth listening to amongst her (mostly lengthy) ten tracks. For those who are happy for music to be "over the top".

4.0 out of 5 stars He's crazier than you thought, 21 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
You will probably only read this once but be in histerics at various parts. It is commendable that he is as straight-talking as you get, resulting in much unintentional humour. The only question is whether his grudge with Pep Guardiola is bigger than Roy Keane's grudge with Alex Ferguson? My conclusion is that he is crazier than I thought!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool, 21 Jan. 2014

These look cool. They even work without handles. The rubber strip on the middle does not feel hot (which is where you hold it). The fact they do not have handles means they take up even less space than a traditional espresso cup in a cramped kitchen cupboard (like mine).

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful with a drum machine, 21 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Gran Turismo (Audio CD)
"Gran Turismo" is far from "My Favourite Game" and some other songs. In fact, "My Favourite Game" almost feels out of place, it's "rockiness" being in stark contrast to the beautiful minor-key keyboard and drum-machine ballads of unheralded album tracks such as "Explode" and "Higher". It is not perfect but well worth a listen for fans of melancholic female-fronted pop-rock.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some great material, 21 Jan. 2014

Those who were not sure if Anneke van Giersbergen can write great songs herself are shown to be mistaken. "Day After Yesterday" is especially beautiful and expresses sentiments of yearning most people can relate to (also, it's great animated music video is worth checking out on another unnamed website...) The album is mostly strong and also triumphs in its heavier moments (such as on "Ice Water"). It is not perfect but nonetheless essential for a fan of The Gathering.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple but likeable, 21 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Drive (Audio CD)
This is a straightforward, positive rock album which probably is suitable for driving. Don't expect "sonic landscapes" or "layers of sound" here. The quality of the songs is pretty good even if it not comparable to The Gathering's best work (with the exception of the beautiful and heartfelt "My Mother Said"). Worth a listen for an Anneke fan.
