The third book in the series each one highly enjoyable. If you enjoy reading of Victorian private detectives this book is for you. Read the first 2 before this one. I've just started No.4 - An Appetite for Murder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorne Smith at his best/, 8 April 2013

Of the nine Thorne Smith books I have read, this one is the most enjoyable. Even more so than some of the better known ones.

Handel: Messiah
Handel: Messiah
Price: £17.68

4.0 out of 5 stars Very worthwhile, 24 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Handel: Messiah (Audio CD)
Norman Walker, for many years a noted principal bass at Covent Garden, is the stylish singer of the bass solos on this recording. The warmth and beauty of his singing are done justice by this recording.

4.0 out of 5 stars Historically important theatrical memoirs., 5 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: A Society Clown (1888) (Paperback)
Great to be able to find a copy of this book. Although most of the interesting facts have been retold in other books (using this one as a source), the original has long been unavailable. As a literary work, it falls short of the Diary of a Nobody, and G & S matters occupy not much more than a chapter. Even so, a worthwhile read.

The Houndsditch Murders and the Siege of Sidney Street

4.0 out of 5 stars A great place to start reading about the Siege of Sidney Street, 26 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Fascinating explanation of these events of 1910. I could have done with details of the sources used in an appendix or as footnotes. Of course, since so much mystery surrounds all of this, we are not given a solution to motivations or to the real identity of Peter the Painter who remains a shadowy figure throughout.
