Brilliant!, 20 May 2004
I've waited ten years for a new studio album from one of my favourite musicians but when I heard this was a rockabilly album I worried it wouldn't be up to par. Alvin Lee should be giving us a blues album, I thought, and I'm certain many another fan did too. Not to worry, this album will not disappoint. Alvin's playing is as thrilling as ever and the band here is without peer. The music is fresh and the delivery fantastic. Standouts include the acoustic Getting Nowhere Fast, the lovely interplay of the guitars between Alvin and Scotty Moore on Take My Time and I'm Gonna Make it with Alvin's extended soloing closing out the song. This isn't Alvin Lee in the Ten Years After style, but don't let that stop you from buying and cherishing this outstanding work.
