Fallen Angel: The Passion of Fausto Coppi (Yellow Jersey Cycling Classics)

5.0 out of 5 stars well written, easy to read... fall in love with coppi, 29 Sept. 2013

i could not put this book down! i love reading about the older days of cycling, and the story of faustino coppi is remarkable to say the least. i absolutely loved this book and fell in love with coppi and the story of the other cyclists of the time [bartali, geminiani] and love reading about their passion' of cycling, their troubles that is life itself and also their humour and banter whilst out on the rough roads of europe; there's some great little quotes that made me laugh out loud. i found it very easy to read, it was so well written which meant i could fly through it, but at the same time take everything in. i would also recommend "put me back on my bike" by william, i read that prior to getting stuck into this one. ive just ordered "merckx: half man..." and i bet that will be a crackin' read too... love merckx! i will now be on the look out for more coppi books to delve a little deeper into the legend of the campionissimo!

such a wonderful album which ive listened to twice today since getting it. with beautiful drones, lulls, warm textures, electronics and guitar all throughout this is a fantastic album - would have to disagree with the other review as the slide guitar sounds excellent and the "something spooked the horses" opener (with slide) was what directed me to this album - having heard a few other Z*F albums and listening alot to "what is not true" over the last two/three years its certainly a little different but with defining moments with all that you love about Z*F - i would say this is a brilliant album and im definitely going to be getting more Z*F in the near future - actually i just put an order in via amazon for the "digilogue" album... cant wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars folk-ing great, 25 Sept. 2004
this album is special
ive listened to it just the once and i love it straight away
the guitar playing is simple and very beautiful and devendras voice is something else entirely, a little strange and certainly unique to anything ive heard before. i could certainly envision devendra being born in the wrong time as i think this is truly suited to late 60s/early 70's, im glad its around now though and i would love to witness this man playing a live show
buy the album, i couldnt recommend it more
the ltd vinyl version is nice to own for a little extra cash
im so looking forward to getting the rest of this mans work and also try to get ahold of the compilation he has put together on the bastet label
this is something very special and lovley

great, this is exactly what i was looking for. i bought a couple of shanemac and the popes releases (((crock of gold and the snake))) and was veryimpressed with the more traditional side of the music. i came accross thistitle and thought id try my luck having not heard of any of the songs norartists presented nicely here. its a great selection, 17 tracksaltogether, of jolly knees-up, acoustic beauty, good/nice time music thatcan be played at anytime, i found it quite relaxing also. not being irish(((but i dont suppose that really matters))) or having any knowledgereally of irish music imparticular, the booklet gives a little descriptionabout the artists involved, some of whom appear more than once and theseare their interpretations of the old traditional irish instruments andmusic.
overall, a good sight into irish music for anyone thatappreciates some good music, i certainly enjoyed listening to this musicand i can recommend it along with the shane mac and the popes albums, definitely worth the $!!!

for those that know of acid mothers, kawabatas works you will know of, his solo works are a little different in approach though. still working with the aspect of noise, soundscape and drone and basing the music around the electric guitar, among other instruments, kawabata makoto is certainly more cooler on his solo work and this is no exception, 'im still here now' comprises of one long live piece, 35 minutes or so, composed by kawabata himself and is very ambient indeed, very laid back. i cant remember how i got into the acid mothers, but im glad, because this is exceptional music and fits right in with what im looking for. i would certainly advise you to get the other albums on amazon and search for others, it is certainly worth the effort. if you are into kawabatas music and have any kind of guides for this type of music, please mail me, i know noone else that likes this type of music and am searching always for unknown, lesser known bands, very much appreciated, enjoy the music. sunn are a very unique band. i am a fan of riff based music, i like the riff, and sunn do every bit of justice. they take a fairly simple riff, take it through the distortion, layer the distortion and sound, kick the s*1T out of it until it is no more and even further. there is something strangely compelling about these sounds which are being created, sunn are true doomers/droners and they are easily the best doom band around and id love to see them live for full effect. id recommend this album, flight and white 1 without question and i am now on the search for similar type bands so please any suggestions. i would also recommend earth if youve not done such a thing already and house of low culture and probably a couple more but i just cant think, too much sunn!
maximum volume yields maximum results.......................o)))

5.0 out of 5 stars great dvd from a great band, 6 Dec. 2003
first of all, i ordered my copy of this dvd from the amazon japan site as i dont have a region 1 player, you have to wait a few weeks, but this is no bad purchase if you like the melvins.
the material on this dvd contains alot of songs off the bullhead album and a few others. the quality however is something to be desired, it is watchable and very good as it is the melvins and this is the only dvd/vhs of the band, but it does look like it was recorded like a dodgy home video, also the sound is good quality and the songs are pounded and very heavy versions of some fine melvins songs. i would recommend this dvd to any fan of the melvins. extras include something like another show of around the same time and a different perspective show of the surf club show plus an early video for one of their first songs, around 1985 i believe.
it would be very very nice if another dvd was bought out, the melvins are a big big sounding great band and it was a real pleasure to see the band live recently in exeter, it was very different and very inspirational.
for now, enjoy the melvins, hopefully they'll be around for alot longer.
