1.0 out of 5 stars Ripped off as well, 23 Nov 2013
Wow! I thought i was probably the only one who never received my dvd after i paid for it, but it looks like there`s been many others that have been ripped off too. This chris guy is obviously dodgy. He`s now claiming, on his website, that he`s doing a movie on John Lennon`s assassination and he wants investors to help him raise money for it. Steer clear.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hopefully Jimmy Savile`s nowhere to be seen on here, 26 Oct 2013
Love Australia`s Countdown and England`s Top Of The Pops. A great slice of music history. I would have given this 5 stars but 2 stars are taken off because of Jimmy Savile`s connection with the BBC.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, 21 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Terraces (Audio CD)
An Aussie band from melbourne who sound a bit like Rancid, Stiff Little Fingers and the Clash. There`s even a bit of hard rock and rock a billy influence in there too. Good stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars Controversial, 21 July 2013
Seems to be a rather good and informative book, although much of the information in this book can be found in other ac/dc books, especially the Highway to hell Bon Scott book. I get the feeling that this author doesn`t like the Young brothers, especially Malcolm. The author praises Mutt Lange, the producer of the 3 ac/dc albums highway to hell, back in black and for those about to rock. The author claims that these are ac/dc`s best albums, where most would disagree. I think ac/dc`s best albums are the first 5 George Young Harry Vanda produced albums. No way is For those About To Rock better than Let There Be Rock or Powerage. The author does touch on a few controversial topics such as who really wrote much of the lyrics to the Back In Black album. He claims Bon did. I don`t suppose we`ll ever know the truth about who did write the lyrics but it wouldn`t be suprising if Bon did write the lyrics to that album. Bon did have a note pad where he did write down many of his lyrics for songs. That note pad did disappear after his death. I have also seen an interview with angus where Angus says that sometimes Bon would struggle to write lyrics and he had to get George, Angus`s brother, to help Bon with the lyrics. So maybe Bon`s notepad of lyrics had both his and george`s lyrics written in that book. And when the time came to put words to the Back In Black album, the band maybe didn`t know which lyrics were Bon`s or which lyrics were George`s in that note pad. The most controversial topic in this book is the story about how bon died. I have to agree with the author here who claims that we`ve not been told the full story about how Bon died. It`s now pretty well known that the "chocking on his vomit" was a cover story. The author in this book claims that Bon had snorted heroin that night and actually died from snorting the heroin. The author also claims that alister Kinnear, who last saw Bon alive, was a heroin dealer as was bon`s live in lover at the time, Margaret Silver. I do believe that there`s more to the story of bon`s death but whether he died of a heroin overdose, i don`t know. If this story about bon`s death is true then alister Kinnear will, and rightly so, end up being the most hated man in the history of Rock`n`roll.

This author is well known to police. Hopefully one day someone writes a book exposing the real truth about him.

4.0 out of 5 stars ok, 2 Nov 2012
I got this book in 1982 and there`s some great stories and pictures in it of the bands involved in the mid 70s punk scene. Even Skrewdriver get a mention in this book. The only minor problem i have with this book on punk and 99% of other books written on punk is the fact that it`s mainly English and American bands that get all the write ups and exposures on punk rock. What about some more books on punk but include punk bands from other countries such as Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Brazil, Russia, middle east and Asia? Why is it always just England and the USA that get all the publicity and attention? The British punk rock scene may have shocked society back then but that whole British music scene sure got a shock when a little known pub band from far away Australia invaded England`s punk music scene in 1977 and shot straight to the top of the charts in the UK and around the world. And AC/DC are still at the top of the charts today, 35 years later.

5.0 out of 5 stars This has gotta be a bootleg, 22 April 2012
This review is from: Greatest Hell's Hits (Audio CD)
No way would ac/dc allow a greatest hits album to come out. Especially since the recent Iron Man c.ds been out. Anyway, gotta give it 5 stars. It`s ac/dc so it`s good.

4.0 out of 5 stars This ROCKS!!!, 7 April 2012
This review is from: Hell Hath No Fury (Audio CD)
This album rocks from start to finish. There`s not a dull track on it. This band proves that girls can play punk rock just as fast and as loud as the blokes can. In fact, if you compare this album to some of the latest albums by Bad Religion, Offspring, Green day, and Pennywise, then these girls prove that they can rock even harder than some blokes can. I first heard of this band through the Dropkick Murphys, as the singer of Civet does a Dropkick Murphys song live with the Dropkicks. I found her singing voice brilliant so i bought this album and it was worth the money. It`s good to occasionally hear a punk band whose singer can actually sing like in this band. The only thing that stopped me from giving this album 5 stars was, like with most punk rock albums, there`s virtually no guitar lead breaks in the songs. If some of these songs had some killer guitar lead breaks in them, then this would be a perfect hard hitting guitar based album. Yes, i know that the punk rock rule is to not have any lead breaks in a song, but if a punk rock band would one day break this rule, not only would their songs have a bit more variety in them, but they`d expand their audience. As a guess, i`d say that the guitarist in this band can`t really play lead guitar and that`s why there`s no lead guitar in the songs. But if she could take the time to learn some scales and practise them, and put some lead guitar on their next album, then it would help this band to break away from the thousands of other similar sounding punk bands around at the moment. I only wish that Johnny Ramone learnt lead guitar while he was alive too, as many (not all) Ramones songs would have sounded much better with some lead guitars in them. Overall, this is still a killer punk rock album and Civet makes Courtney Love`s Hole sound like Madonna.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great new Subs album, 19 Feb 2012
This review is from: Work in Progress (Audio CD)
Like wine, Charlie Harper seems to improve with age. This is the Subs best album in a long time. This album is again proof that Charlie doesn`t need Nicky on guitar. Many of Nicky Garret`s songs are very similar. He uses the chords B,G,D & A alot in Subs songs and this is what makes some Subs songs sound very similar. This new Subs album is better. It`s still rebelious punk rock`n`roll but the songs have a bit more variety. Charlie`s lyrics are some of his best here too. Another stand out is the drumming. Jamie sounds like a very talented drummer. All in all, this is one of the Uk Subs best albums and a must have for all Subs fans.
