Logi BLOK Protective Shell Case for iPad Air 2 - Black/Red
Logi BLOK Protective Shell Case for iPad Air 2 - Black/Red
Price: £29.99

3.0 out of 5 stars The inclusion of a screen protector is a nice touch, and if you're looking for a max-protection ..., 8 Oct. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A protective case, but not functional or attractive in any way. The protective claims of 6ft/1.8 meter drop protection may well be true, because the case will add around a centimetre to the hight, width and depth of your device.

The Blok is a rigid, hard-plastic backed, rubbery-rimmed case which your push your iPad into. Buttons work through the case, and there are spaces for the camera, headphone, lightning connecter and speakers. The hard plastic back of the base is smooth, but unfortunately the sort of material that picks up fingerprints, and seemingly anything it comes into contact with.

The inclusion of a screen protector is a nice touch, and if you're looking for a max-protection package for your iPad, this would be worth considering. If you are an average user, who really isn't likely to drop their iPad, and perhaps somebody who enjoys the fact that it is so light and slim, I would look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars I’m sure you’ll be fine. I left these gloves in Nepal, 27 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I wore these gloves 8 hours a day, for two weeks whilst working on post-earthquake construction projects in Nepal. Clearing rubble (sometimes by hand), sawing, splitting bamboo, folding corrugated sheets of metal, clearing drainage ditches (sometimes by hand), and swinging kukri’s at foliage. All these tasks were accomplished wearing these outstanding work gloves, and with the exception of hammering my thumb a few times, protected my hands perfectly throughout.

The only downside is that my fingernails were stained yellow for a couple of weeks, as the leather dye started running a bit after the first week. If you aren’t literally submerging these gloves in filthy water for hours at a time, I’m sure you’ll be fine. I left these gloves in Nepal, and no doubt they are being gratefully used by others, even now.

5.0 out of 5 stars The short length makes this perfect for a limited range of uses, 27 Aug. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Solid construction, fits perfectly, and smoothly into both USB and lightning ports, and highly affordable.

The short length makes this perfect for a limited range of uses, such as connecting your phone to a car stereo, whilst it is in a holder nearby, for example. This is what I use this product for, and although an additional inch or so would be useful (that’s what she said), it does quite nicely.

4.0 out of 5 stars It’s hard to know how to review a product like this. Does it mix well, 27 Aug. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It’s hard to know how to review a product like this. Does it mix well? Yes. Does it taste...decent? Yes. Nobody is going drink protein shakes for the taste alone, so perhaps it is suffice to say that while the banana flavour I tried isn’t delicious, it isn’t bad. Does it....work? Hard to say. Post-workout soreness appears to be reduced compared to skipping a dose. I’ve been using Maxi Nutrition (and in it’s previous life as Maximuscle), and have always found their products to be of a respectable standard, and I’d be hard pushed to try another brand.

Each serving is supposed to supply your body with 30g of protein (whey/milk/soya blend), 6.5g of glutamine, and indeterminate amounts of magnesium, calcium. I have no way of validating this, but considering this product is used by England and Welsh rugby, it seems like a trustworthy product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Premium Fan, 7 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I was very pleased to receive this excellent fan, especially in the hight of the sweltering British summer. The first thing you’ll notice is the solid construction, which manifests itself as a very weighty, solid fan. This is important, because it has so much power that a lighter fan would no doubt take off.

The materials feel expensive, and the chrome looks great. The blades of the fan are also chrome, or perhaps aluminium, which gives the whole assembly a nice look. The speed settings are well-spaced, and easily selectable with a heavy dial on the rear. The fan itself has about a 270 degree plane of movement, and works well however it is directed.

Considering the speed of the fan and the materials, it is not nearly as deafening as I had expected. This was a pleasant surprise, and makes listening to music or having a conversation easily possible, even in close proximity to the fan itself. Highly recommended premium fan that looks great, and provides excellent air circulation.

Lonely Planet Austria (Travel Guide)

5.0 out of 5 stars Current and Concise, 20 Aug. 2014
I suspect that the time of the analogue travel book is almost at an end. As most people will be painfully aware, the average lonely planet or rough guide tome is a heavy beast, not remotely suited to travelling light. Combined with the fact that the information contained within - phone numbers, prices and dates is liable to change, and thus be incorrect, I am sure that I am not the only person who much prefers actually travelling to a country or city with a digital guide, or access to a service like Trip Advisor on a phone or tablet. Much more portable and current.

In any case, I do enjoy being able to go through a book before leaving, even if I won’t actually carry it with me.

This Lonely Planet Austria is the most up-to-date edition (published May 2014, according to the back of my copy), and therefore the only version worth having. Don’t buy a second-hand previous edition, or you may find things have changed considerably when you arrive in person.

It is a reasonably sized (around 400 pages), with a sturdy outer binding. It contains the usual sections on general information and specific geographic areas, whilst concluding with some pages on history, culture and a ‘survival guide’. The main sections are as follows:

‘Plan Your Trip’ Section including:
Maps
Top Places to Visit
Itineraries
Outdoors
Food/Drink

Regions:
Vienna
Lower Austria & Burgenland
Upper Austria
Styria
The Salzkammergut
Salzburg & Salzburgerland
Carinthia
Tyrol & Voralberg

The geographic sections include mini-maps of urban areas, sights, activities, tours, festivals and events, sleeping, eating, drinking, entertainment and shopping, and are informative, without being long-winded. There is also good general information about the culture, clothing for seasons, emergency phone numbers and contacts and so on.

There is also a very useful detailed pull-out map of central Vienna including a transport map, sights and a detailed index. Unlike other Lonely Planet books I have used, this contains some much appreciated information about what roads to take to certain places. Not everyone will be using public transport, and communicating other options is great.

This is a solid guide, and will be of great use to the first-time visitor to Austria, or one of its provinces. It is a great reference book to have on the shelf, but if you can afford the space and weight, it will be of even more use in your backpack!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great solution for instant-coffee critics, 27 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Are you fed up of going camping and having to resort to disgusting instant coffee?

This is a perfect solution to such problems, and many others. Take the strainer out, ground coffee in, water in, stir. Strainer in, push down, drink. Simple as that. The mug will keep the coffee nice and warm, but this product would be much improved by having a lid you could snap on the top.

I often take this into work, or use it around the house if I can’t be bothered to make a cafetiere. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars When you reach a certain age..., 27 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having reached a certain age, when hairs start making themselves clearly at home in places one might not have expected, I needed a solution. I had a good look for something affordable that could be washed, and was powered by batteries, as there is nothing worse than quickly needing to do some facial gardening only to find your device is out of juice.

This arrived quickly and was put to work in various nostrils, ear-holes and even to tackle some rogue but determined mono-brow follicles. It worked admirably at all the tasks, and is very easy to clean.

The necessity of owning one of these trimmers is somewhat depressing for me on a personal level, but is undoubtably highly valued by close family, friends and colleagues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t buy batteries anywhere else!, 27 July 2014
Cheap, long-lasting batteries in a useful pack size. Fast delivery - no complaints or other issues to mention really. You’d be mad to buy your batteries anywhere else, as these ‘premium’ brand batteries do last considerably longer than other ‘budget’ brands you might find in Wilkinsons or Poundland.

5.0 out of 5 stars No-Brainer, 27 July 2014

Fantastic value for money when compared to Canon ink cartridges, which will otherwise bankrupt you.

My main concern was the quality and consistency of ink, but I needn’t have worried, I can’t tell any difference between these and the ‘original’ cartridges - there are no noticeable imperfections or dissimilarities when printing black/white text, colour text or documents, images on plain paper and even when printing high-res photos on photo paper.
