5.0 out of 5 stars intelligent and inspiring..., 14 Sept. 2011

i came across mike stroud from ranulph fiennes - mad bad and dangerous to know. i wasn't too sure what to expect as i had never heard from him before hand, however thank goodness i did. this book is brilliant - inspiring through the adventures he has been on with ranulph fiennes, but adds a level of intelligence that makes this book a whole lot more. very enjoyable...

ranulph has done it all. been in the sas, trekked the antartic, climbed everest, run marathons plus much more. i always wondered why would someone want tp push themselves to such limits, often putting their life in danger? now i know - this book is a fantastic indepth account of what he has acheived and how he has pushed himself. seriously inspiring!

5.0 out of 5 stars truly inspirational..., 14 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
this is the perfect book to read if you need a bit of a pick me up, or want to see how a world champion pushes himself. i can't reccommend this book highly enough. I liked the way how lance tells you the mistakes he made when starting out in the tour de france - being a rude, arrogant idiot; and then how he grew as a person. i was also impressed with the the feling you get that he was pleased he caught cancer and beat it and turned into a better person for it, truly inspiring...

3.0 out of 5 stars nothing special..., 14 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Art Of Seduction (Paperback)
i normally like greene's work, so i bought this to see what his take was on seduction throughout the ages. the book itself is heavy reading and i didn't gain much from it. i also got the feeling that he wrote the book to try and trump "48 laws of power" - nothing special...

5.0 out of 5 stars why didn't we learn from this fella?, 14 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Rogue Trader (Paperback)
why o why didn't we learn from his mistakes. i don't want to rehash old news - but if you have been living on mars for the past 20 odd years nick leeson bought down barings bank with dodgy trades - this book is an enjoyable read because nick tells us exactly what happened - what caused him to do this, how he got away with it for so long and in his own words. if we had actually learnt from his mistakes maybe we wouldn't be in this financial mess at this current time...?

5.0 out of 5 stars how to make running easier..., 14 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
a bit of a big claim - "making running easier", but this book will do just that if you apply and practice what it preaches. i originally purchased this book because my knees were killing me when i ran. after practicing this methodolgy for a week or so my knees stopped hurting and i began to look forward to running. a very easy read and easy to implement...

5.0 out of 5 stars the best of the "dragon" books..., 14 Sept. 2011
This review is from: Enter the Dragon (Paperback)
this is by far the best of the dragon books. theo tells his story, which is incredibly inspiring and gives a better account of how you take on debt to get your company off the ground, as well as how to avoid ridiculous consultant fees etc. why did i prefer this over james caan and duncan's books - quite simply theo doesn't 'advertise' his companies into his life stories - this gives a better overall insight into how to be a successful businessman...

The Real Deal: My Story from Brick Lane to Dragons' Den
The Real Deal: My Story from Brick Lane to Dragons' Den
by James Caan
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

4.0 out of 5 stars good read..., 14 Sept. 2011
an inspiring book about how james caan rose, fell and then rose again. why did i give it 4 stars - well, he didn't actually start out in the rag trade, his father ran a rag trade business - where james helped until he left home. also knowing that he's a "non-dom" is it fair that he doesn't pay any tax... other than that a good read...

Top Man: How Philip Green Built His High Street Empire

Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

3.0 out of 5 stars whitty, interesting but..., 14 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
but this book isn't written by philip green - it's all hear say and 'stories'. saying that i am probably being quite harsh, as the book does describe philip green as total character - favourite story is how after a person had really annoyed him, the person knew he was philips 'mate' again because philip rung him and called him ac-word down the phone... enough said.

innocent has taken the world by storm. fact! if anyone is thinking of starting a business, or wants some inspiration for creating or migrating to a brand identity then this should be one of the first places you look. the reason why innocent has take the world by storm is because they communicate their simplicity, taste great, and are ethical. this book is an incredibly interesting read on innocent - highly reccomended...
