3.0 out of 5 stars Great........but what a downer of an ending, 18 Jun 2003
I have to agree with the earlier reports of this album. Its a potential masterpiece that should appeal to fans of everyone from The Beach Boys to The White Stripes via Flaming Lips and so on.....But how can they justify the final track. It so undermines what goes before that I shudder almost everytime I even catch sight of the album cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sonic sedative, 18 Nov 2002
This is the best anti road-rage record ever produced! I know this wasn't the composers original aim but the sounds on this record cannot but take you to a calmer place. All this and Jingle Bells too. If you're a fan of the film, get this and your whole life will feel calmer.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is where it all starts from, 27 Aug 2002

Ever wondered where some of the best music of the last few years comes from? The power and energy of the White Stripes, or the simple storytelling arrangements of Mouldy Peaches and jeffrey lewis? The answer is in the blues probuced in the Southern States between 1948-1952. Vocals about pain and loss sung with genuine emotion and backed by guitar playing that makes the word raw seem over descriptive. Of the artists that emerged during this period John Lee Hooker has remained relevant to this day, and on this album he delivers some of his best known songs in an accoustic format. Stripped to the bone, percussion tapped out on the case of the guitar the songs themselves come to the fore and if anything will enhance your enjoyment of the better known electric recordings. This album provides an introduction to the blues and in particular this remarkable musician and will be enjoyed by music fans who enjoy anything from Elvis to The Strokes via Van Morrisson. Steps fans beware!
