3.0 out of 5 stars Not for a Disney Collecter!!!, 1 Jan 2006
This review is for the DVD and not the movie. The movie is delightful and wonderfully animated with some of the best Disney songs and characters.
This DVD is superior in every possible way to the first issue, which had bad audio/video and lacked in bonus materials. This edition’s picture quality and audio presentation are simply stunning, as if it was drawn in the age of the Little Mermaid and Aladdin. The extras are quite entertaining too but I felt that it lacked the comprehensive ‘behind the scenes’ that other recent ‘Special Editions’ of classics such as Sleeping Beauty and Bambi had.
I am a Disney DVD collector, and bought the US versions of the Platinum edition Lion King, Aladdin and the recent Cinderella as they all came in superb gift boxes with film cells and character sketches. I was delighted to replace my old Alice in Wonderland DVD with this special edition, only to discover that the US (again) got a better version of this release. Titled ‘the Masterpiece Edition’ it comes in 2 Disks and features 2 hours worth of extras including vintage 1950 ‘One Hour in Wonderland’ making-of feature hosted by Walt Disney.
I find it quite irritating that as a Disney fan I need to buy copies of the same edition of a movie from both continents just to enjoy the extras- why release Special Editions if they aren’t as special as ones released in other countries? Does this mean that in a few years we will get yet another ‘Special’ Alice in Wonderland DVD in the UK?
And this is the only reason I am giving this DVD a 3 star rating to direct fellow Disney fans and collectors attention to the existence of a superior edition of this film [even though it is in Region 1]. The movie itself gets 5 bright and shiny stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FUN!, 29 April 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Cranium Conga (Toy)
We're a bunch of students (20-26 years old) living on campus in an Army & Design College and decided to buy this game (we own Cranium and decided to go for this one too).
First it is great fun and you get to know your friends/family a bit better. I'm not going to describe the game play as it has been mentioned before, but I'd like to say that it is more fun than Cranium because you don't need to use your brains that much!
Some of us are international students and Cranium was difficult for them due to language problems but this game proved to be a hit with everybody. A definite ice breaker. My only complaint is that it is for only 6 players and i would've been great if it was for 8.
A future recommendation would be if the amazing guys at Cranium released a more adult version of this game as it has great potential for it and I'm sure the game would be very hillarious and funny (specially with the acting and clay parts!).
You should definitly buy this, it's great for kids and parents, it's great to play amongst friend -whatever their age. Pure fun, no calculating or brain sqweezing involved, just be alter and anticipate the other person's answer and voila!!!
the only reason I'm giving this 3 stars for educational value is becuase I don't think it'll teach children anything essential like shapes/colors/general knowledge- only how to guess answers- which isn't that bad at all!

3.0 out of 5 stars REALLY what a film!!, 29 April 2005
NOTE: this review if for the movie and not the DVD, as the DVD was not released at the time of posting this review.
I totally agree with the previous review. I'm a HUGE fan of Croutching Tiger, and fell absolutely in love with HERO for its amazing art direction and usage of color.
With Flying Daggers I was very VERY disappointed. While it is still visually beautiful it has huge flaws. And I do mean HUGE!
Like the previous reviewer I also watched it in the theaters (in the UK though) and the whole theater was laughing during the final squence, everybody was yelling: please die and get it over with!!! (and this is not a spoiler as I'm not revealing who and how!)
Another big flaw was the very obvious usage of CGI. While in HERO there were many scenes were you'd wonder if it's CG or not, here it's more than obvious. There's a huge snow storm and it's all CG. while you see CG trees blowing fiercly in the wind full of snow flakes, the actors are still and amazingly so is their costumes. And in close-ups the whole atmosphere is going crazy with wind and snow -and while there are a few flakes scattered on the actors' costumes- magically none of the flakes in the storm manage to stick to their clothes, faces...etc or even make the actors blink!! Looked very cheap sadly.
That said, it is still very pretty, and the fight in the bamboo forest is wonderful. I just wish the story was better thought of (because it has tremendeous potential) and the end wasn't this tacky. I REALLY hope there's an atlernative ending, maybe even someday we'll get a director's cut with a proper ending that will feel tragic (like Croutchin Tiger) and not turn into a comedy!
I will buy this DVD when it's released, becuase it's still a good piece of film. If you're a fan of Croutching Tiger and HERO then this will be a great adition to your collection. If you haven't seen this film then I recommend you rent it and see for yourself before you decide to buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars not only the best videos but much more!, 4 Nov 2004
This review is from: Travis: Singles [DVD] (DVD)
Simply the greatest hits DVD for the best band around.
What makes this different from any other 'best of' dvds is the amount of extras on it, from the infamous 'baby one more time' live version to band commentaries to backstage at the recording studios. If you're a fan or just like a few of their songs, this is a must have.
