My Mum's the Best
My Mum's the Best
by Rosie Smith
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Fun, 16 Mar. 2012
This review is from: My Mum's the Best (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have been trying to encourage my 4 year old step-daughter to read, and thought this would be a good place to start. This simple, single paragraph per double page spread text does mean that repeat readings happen very fast, but it's simple and large text for her to follow with her finger as I read it to her then she tries reading back.
This sort of books make it easy to read to the little one as it's short and she can relate to it so easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have Sequel, 16 Mar. 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Having read Pregnancy For Men: The whole nine months and finding it to be the most useful and enjoyable book on the beginnings of fatherhood, I had to read this follow up. And I wish I had this book a couple of years ago whern I first started trying to get along with my my step-daughter. The information and the advise that this book gives is so straight forward and easy to understand, I definately think that second time around, I will be much better prepared for all the trials that the early years have to offer.

This is a must have book for anyone exprecting for newly parented.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, 24 Jan. 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I am a huge fan of one pot cooking - casseroles, stews, soups and all those meals that - let's face facts - require not alot of equipment and even less washing up than most.
Like alot of cookbooks I've read lately, budget is something of an issue with this book, but there are many ways to make creative changes to fit this into a wallet-watch recipe list.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting collection, 24 Jan. 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I love looking at veggie cook books for ideas for side dishes and accompliments. This cookbook features some excellent examples of what can be done with a vegetarian diet, but I often feel that budget is not something you can consider looking at many of these recipes.

So if you are looking for something new, or to experiment with vegetarian food and money is not object then this is a great little book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Insight, 24 Jan. 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have always had a keen interest in the way that relgion handle politics, the things that tyrants and dictators do, and the way they reconsile themselves to it.

I won't go too much into detail as it is difficult ot summaries this book in a simple review, but needless to say this seemingly well researched and investigated book is a fascinating look into what was happening in the run up to the death of the pope and what effect he might have had if he had had the chance to deliver his speach.

Doctor Who: The Twin Dilemma
Doctor Who: The Twin Dilemma
by Eric Saward
Edition: Audio CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the actual show, 24 Jan. 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Colin Baker reads Eric Saward's novelisation of this first adventure for the 6th Doctor. The original television story was shown as the final story in season twenty-one following Peter Davidson's departure at the end of "Caves of Androzandi" which is quite possibly the best Dr Who story ever made. The TV story was a very weak, poorly recieved four parter that was ultimately disapointing after the last few stories from Baker's predecessor.

That being said, Saward's novelisation is a vast improvement on writer Anthony Steven's original. Saward was the show's script editior at the time and had a large hand in the delevopment of the original script and alot of that comes through in this novelisation.

Colin Baker's reading is brilliant and his years of audio work with Big Finish has kept his performance as the Doctor consistant in the nearly 20 years since he took the role.

This is a brilliant CD set that is an ideal way of get through the novelisations if like me, you seldom have time to sit down and read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Children's Book, 24 Jan. 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My four year old step-daughter is a huge dinosaur freak and I've been trying to get her to start reading for a while now. This book has proved a great way to kick-start the learning process.
The book divides it's chosen subjects into relative hight groups and presents each dino across a double page spread with big illustrations and a single block of information and a "relatove to human size" chart.
This had proved to be a lot of fun and is helping my girl to read while she is having great fun. I don't think slightly older children will get much out of this very simple book, but the younger ones will love the large ilustrations.

4.0 out of 5 stars And My Girlfriend Says..., 25 Nov. 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I gave these to my girlfriend to replace a really knackered, old, cheap pair of headphones thinking that the pink "specially designed for women" thing would be a big deal, but was a little disapointed when, after use, she said that they weren't really anything special.

Well, lets start by saying there is absolutley nothing wrong with these earphones, they sit comfortable and have a decent level of noise cancellation as you would expect from earphones. The sound quality is good if not perfect (something I have put down to the very small "sound channel" clearance between the rubber plug and the speaker) and the fabric wrapped cord is a nice visual touch.

All in all, these are good earphones but the only thing that seems to be "designed for women" is the colour and the slightly smaller than usual ear-plug which would normally by an optional replacement in my experince.

The Emperor's New Clothes and Other Fairy Tales (BBC Audiobooks)
The Emperor's New Clothes and Other Fairy Tales (BBC Audiobooks)
by Sir Derek Jacobi
Edition: Audio CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent collection, 17 Nov. 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I got this as a way to introduce my little girl to both the classic fairy tales and audio entertainment.
Sporting an impressive list of readers, the BBC audiobooks department has yet again produced a wonderful series of beautifully told fairy stories from the extensive and consistantly brilliant works of Hans Christian Anderson.
This is a definate must for thoses who enjoy the tales but don't always have time to read them or simply want to introduce a new generation to some real classics.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I've tried alot of these all-in-one driving test sets, some good, some awesome - This latest offering is by far the best yet!!!

With all the real theory test simulators, Hazard Perception trials, maintance and practicle driving test simulator options as expected along with a good and comprehensive beginners maintance guide there is no way a decently revised and practiced person couldn't pass first time with this excellent set.

A must buy for learner drivers
