1.0 out of 5 stars Painful to watch, 19 Feb. 2014

Whoever cast Mickey O'Rourke in this knows nothing about acting, the medium of film or sex. Jacqueline Bisset is beautiful but uninspiring to the point of being wooden. I really couldn't care less about the characters or their story. The photography and the set design was quite good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch this DCD more than once, 25 Jan. 2014

Watching this DVD was an interesting experience for me. I'll probably watch it again. The narrative or story line was complicated and meandering with many characters in different real life and believable situations. The young, sexually active, teenagers lived their lives in a different world that didn't so much overlap with the adult world as impinge on it with little or no love or engagement.
The oral sex scene with the boy and the older woman was spell binding while being real and believable. Their dialogue after her orgasm perhaps held the key to what it is all about.
There was lots to think about including teen suicide, lack of communication, religious insanity, bondage, domination and the futility of life.
There were probably other things which passed me bye first time around.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful girl, pity about the product., 25 Jan. 2014

This review is from: 9.1/2 Weeks [1985] [DVD] (DVD)
As I watched this DVD my overriding thoughts were that Kim Basinger a most beautiful 6th formers fantasy Micky Rourke looked and acted like a bored adolescent. I dare say the sex scenes were supposed to look very erotic but a leg trembler in a back entry in the teaming rain was so unbelievable as to be a nonsence and the sex that included food and honey being smeared over Kim Basinger's body made me cringe.
There was a bit of a Mills and Boon type story if you like that kind of thing.
In summary, a waste of time and money. I could do better myself.

Henry And June [DVD] [1990]

This review is from: Henry And June [DVD] [1990] (DVD)
I watched this DVD with my wife. I didn't find it particularly erotic and Henry's bald head made the love scenes seem contrived. June was well played especially in the lesbian scene with Anais.
Generally speaking, I found the story line obscure and the passion of the lives the characters wasn't well captured.
OK but try harder.

Strictly Ballroom Dancing
Strictly Ballroom Dancing

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Dancers Disc, 25 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have purchased at least ten ballroom dancing discs but if I had known about this disc I wouldn't have had to buy any of the others.
It is truly the ideal dance disc covering both ballroom and latin dancing. The 26 tracks are strictly instrumental (no singing) performed by the Columbia Ballroom Orchestra including music for the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive and Paso Doble.
The rythum played for each track is exactly in accordance with that stated in the standard texts.
Well worth the what it costs.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lots of material, 15 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These CD's bear the mark of having been put together by someone with a distinct lack of knowledge of Latin American dancing. Most of the tracks are simply named without reference to the dance they are suitable for ( rumba, samba, cha cha cha etc) Those that are labelled are more often than not wrongly labelled.

OK as wall paper music or for non dancers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 15 Nov. 2013

This review is from: Ballroom Dancer [DVD] (DVD)
I saw their last rumba on UTube (you know the one). In the event the material doesn't contain much dancing and doesn't reflect the undoubted genius of these two dancers.
It was a drab ponderous account of a relationship breaking down with the partnership breaking down irrecoverably and the two principal characters going their separate ways.

The book was well thumbed ( more than I had expected)

It comprises a collection of essays written by American academics most of which seem to me to lack insight and are written as vehicles for the various writer's hobby horses. Quite readable but they don't add much, if anything, to the enjoyment or understanding of the story.

Mostly written by average kind of guys who have little or no experience relevant to the subject.
