5.0 out of 5 stars Another hits collection with a great DVD of videos ., 13 Dec. 2005
This is the who knows how many Blondie collection this makes but this one is a bit different because you finally get a great DVD of their videos that are not held together with some stupid cabbie ruining the beginning of the videos. This is what should have been put out when EMI put out the Greatest Hits collection in 2002 but was not. In the US Capitol (the US EMI since in America EMI no longer exits) put out a similar cd/dvd of Pat Benatar hits and videos and Tina Turner as well. In the UK Blondie and EMI put this collection out because they are on tour this November and Decemeber and this collection will come out in the US next year before Blondie is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame . So far in the Uk it has done quite well.
So why buy a new HITS collection from Blondie. Well if you put on a new picture that I don't have on the cover I will buy it .Well this cover to the Sight & Sound edition of hits is from the photo shoot that came from the Plastic Letters shoot. If you read the Making Tracks book Debbie Harry talks about the photos taken with the pillow case and red tape as an outfit. Yes Debbie Harry is wearing a pillow case with red tape on it and makes it look so cool. When you buy the cd look under where the cd/dvd are held and you will more closely of what I am talking about. If someone can take a simple everyday bed linen item and use it for clothes and look increbible doing it then you know Debbie Harry is in a league of her own.
Now onto the music. The cd comes with basically every hit Blondie had and features 2 new tracks. I know most people go on at how good "Rapture Riders " is but it is more Jim Morrison than Debbie Harry. But it still works nonetheless. For me the best new track is the "In The Flesh" which is a brand new version with new vocals and a electro vibe too it. I know people are not liking it but trust me it works so well it is scary. The remix for "Good Boys" is the US only PROMO release by Sanctuary records that was issued to Club DJ's after the Norty Cotto US mixes were a top ten dance hit. There is a single mix to the Blow Up mix as well as a much better (Demonic Electronic Mix)that should have been put on here instead but the fact that this rare 12" mix is now available should be a collector's item. Plus what can you say to hearing "Call Me" , "One Way Or Another", "Sunday Girl" , "End To End" -- which would have been the 3rd single if Epic and Sanctuary would have gotten enough faith in their last album to keep trying for hits -- and "Maria" which is such an amazing song. All that is missing from this collection is the long promised to be issued "Studio 54" from 1997 that still sounds cool today. Oh well maybe in a few more years and another Blondie hits cd it will finally come to the light.
The DVD-- now you can watch Blondie's videos from the beginning to the last video "Good Boys" . Still the whole video to the other 8 songs off Eat To The Beat could have been issued as well as "Nothing Is Real But The Girl" or the remix videos for "Atomic" and "Heart Of Glass" could have been put on but this is a small complaint. Now you can see them all in their entirety and enjoy the face of Debbie Harry and the craziness of Clem Burke.
Overall this collection of DVD and Cd is worth the price. And hopefully when it comes to the US it will does as well. Anything with Debbie Harry is a five star event. A++++++

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant song and club mixes., 21 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Milkshake (Audio CD)
This is the latest hit from Kelis-her first in the USA . "Milkshake" was produced by The Neptunes and finds the act trying to expand the field of what is American R&B with a dance vibe and a lot of innuendo thrown in for great measure. The mixes are:
1-Milkshake(radio mix) 3:05
2-X-Press 2 Triple Thick Vocal mix(9:30)
3-DJ Zinc Remix(5:59)
4-FreQ Nasty Hip Hall Mix(6:24)- with added rap by Spoonface
5-Tom Neville Remix (6:26)
A brilliant single that is hopefully a start for America to see what the rest of the world(especially the UK) already knows- Kelis is an incredible artist. BUY- it is genuis- Damn right it's better than yours!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and moody Scumfrog mix., 1 Dec. 2003
This review is from: Addicted [CD 2] (Audio CD)
The main reason I bought this cd single was for the remix of "Addicted " by the superhot remixer The Scumfrog. The remix(8:30) is track 3 and is mostly a dub with some vocals on it. It is very slow to start with piano and a thunderstorm then goes into a more guitar driven moody house mix. Just a beautiful remix. A+++++++++++++.

Blondie - Good Boys CD#2

5.0 out of 5 stars Uk single with FULL Giorgio Moroder mix., 18 Oct. 2003
This cd features the lp version and full(7:07) mix by Giorgio Moroder of "Good Boys". Giorgio Moroder last year mixed "Escape " by Enrique Iglesias and Berlin's "With A Touch" so in 2003 he comes back to the dance field with producing a few new songs on the newest US Donna Summer Best Of Collection and remixing Aretha's newest single "The Only Thing Missing" but it is this single that is gaining the most attention for the Dance Music Legend. The mix begins and ends with NRG type of keys and moves into a more guitar/heavier club type of vibe. Great mix. The German cd single contains this mix plus the great Arthur Baker mix. So if you can find that one it is worth it. If not buy the Uk single for a great mix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Boys plus live trcaks and video., 18 Oct. 2003
This review is from: Good Boys [CD 1] (Audio CD)
This cd features the lp version of "Good Boys" and 2 live tracks- "Maria" and "Rapture" that are the bonus tracks on the Japanese version of The Curse Of Blondie. Once again how "Maria" was never a huge US release I will never understand. The last item on this cd is the Jonas Auckerland directed video for "Good Boys" that is great- it took me awhile to get used to but works very well with 2 stories going- 1 a performance of the group with circus clothes and the other the tale of a clown who falls in love with a female performer only to see she is with someone else.Awesome song and cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blondie Returns!!!!!, 10 Oct. 2003
This review is from: The Curse of Blondie (Audio CD)
This is the first cd from Blondie since the collapse of the Beyond records,Craig Leon suing the label and band and in the US the fact that they are not signed to a record label and this is the cd that they are releasing anyways. This cd is one of the best and most intense cds of 2003. The band has put out a very rock based cd with rap and some dance and reggae thrown in. "Shakedown" with the raunchy rap of Debbie to the dance vibe of "Good Boys" to the just drop dead gorgeous "Undone"---this better be the second single and I mean it---to the flat out rock of "GoldenRod" to the intense Hedwig And the Angry Inch influenced "Rules For Living"(this is by Mr. Destri and on their website he says this is the best song he has ever written and from all the great songs he has done in the past it truly is breathtaking) to the stunning "Background Melody(The Only One)"- a little Portishead reggae/dub/rock all thrown together with such a memorable hook--to "Magic" which is a bit weird but grows--to "End To End"( a awesome rock tune with Romantic Debbie singing of love) to "Hello Joe" -a funny tune to "The Tingler" the only Harry /Stein song on the cd to the flat out gorgoeus rockers that are "Last One In The World" and "Diamond Bridge" to the last 2 jazz influenced tracks "Desire Brings Me Back" that features The Jazz Passengers and "Songs Of Love" that features one of Debbie's best vocals ever--this cd flows and will grow on you until it is in your head. I have no doubt this cd should do extremely well in Europe and especially the UK where they seem to understand the fact that this group and especially Deborah Harry are truly one of a kind and still important to music . Just a tremendous cd from start to finish. A++++++++++++++++++++++!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Aaliyah's hits cd plus DVD of classic videos., 14 Dec. 2002
This is the first collection of the late singer's hits. It features all her huge pop & r&b hits like "Back And Forth","At Your Best (You Are Love)" ,"One In A Million","Try Again", "More Than A Woman","Are You That Somebody" and "I Care 4 U". Missing are hits like "If Your Girl Only Knew" and"Rock The Boat" .The cd features 6 "new " tracks -in that I'm not sure if they were lost tracks or songs cut from her cds or even stuff she was working on before she was killed. The track "Miss You " is her newest single and has been climbing the r&b and pop charts in the US. The other tracks are quite good as well-"Come Over" with fellow r&b singer Tank,"Don't Worry", "All I Need" and "Erica Kane" which sounds like a lost Prince track are the best of the new stuff here. Then the cd comes with a bonus dvd of hit videos of "One In A Million","Are You That Somebody","Try Again","We Need A Resolution","More Than A Woman","Back In One Piece" with DMX,"Four Page Letter","Got To Give It Up" and "Rock Tha Boat". Plus you get the commercial for her last cd and a 22 minute interview/behind the scenes look at Aaliyah herself. Just incredible look back and a sorrowful reminder that we will never see where her career would have gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Barbra's classic duets album., 14 Dec. 2002
This review is from: Duets (Audio CD)
I don't know how many complilations of Barbra's there are but this is the first of her numerous duets. This features her classic hits like "Guilty" and "What Kind Of Fool" with Barry Gibb, "No More Tears(Enough Is Enough)" with Donna Summer,"I Finally Found Someone" with Bryan Adams,"Tell Him " with Celine Dion,"Till I Loved You" with Don Johnson and the still incredible "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with Neil Diamond. Also featured are hits with Kim Carnes "Make No Mistake He's Mine" which was covered by Kenny Rogers and Ronnie Milsap that went number 1 on the country charts and "If You Ever Leave Me" with country superstar that did hit the country top 50. Also included are duets with Frank Sinatra,Johnny Mathis,Judy Garland,Michael Crawford,Ray Charles and Kris Kristofferson. The cd features 2 new tracks by fellow adult contemporary singers Barry Manilow and Josh Groban. The Barry Manilow track "I Won't Be The One To Let Go" is a nice track but the chemistry with Josh Groban on "All I Know Of Love" is incredible. Classic Barbra !!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent new single from Moony., 30 Nov. 2002
This review is from: Acrobats (Audio CD)
Following up "Dove" is a hard act to follow but she succeds in every way. The song once again features the voice of Monica Bragato and a beautiful retro/disco styled song. The single comes with 3 full remixes that are excellent. The Roy Malone King mix(5:42) being the best mix here. In its "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" style mix the vocals are put front and center. She sounds so incredible on this mix. The original T & F Vs. Moltosugo Club Mix (6:33) features the clapping sample of "Forget Me Nots ". Excellent Mix . The Final mix is the Tommy Vee "Patu" dub mix(6:50) that is quite good but is a dub mix. Moony continues to grow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet another Collection of Kylie's earlier hits., 26 Nov. 2002
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I know that Kylie is not very happy with not only the cover but with the release of yet another Greatest Hits from her old label PWL. But for freaks of her you get a bonus disc of rare and unreleased remixes to add to the collection. Disc 1 is full of the hits plus 1 B-side("Say The Word-I'll Be There"). The songs ,like the booklet state, are like ABBA songs in that when originally released were trashed yet years later they are considered classics now. They are full lyrically structured songs that happen to be put in happy/dancy arrangements. The booklet that comes with this cd shows all the single covers to the PWL singles as well as giving chart information as well. As for the songs they still hold up with "Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi","Celebration","I Should Be So Lucky" ,"Tears On My Pillow" ,"Shocked", "Made In Heaven","Never Too Late","Step Back In Time" and "Better The Devil you Know" are the best tracks. Disc 2 is the reason to buy with the original 12" mix of "I Should Be So Lucky"(6:05),the house Oz Mix of "The Loco-Motion"(5:43),"Step Back In Time"(6:45)--a little more disco than the original mix,"Word Is Out" (7:48) --a little more ambient and "Celebration" (Techno Rave Mix) are the best of the rare older mixes presented here. There are the previously released The Espagna mix of "Wouldn't Change A Thing" which I have on a promo US single and the kick ass rock vibe of "Shocked" as remixed by Phil Harding & Ian Curnow. Then you get two 1995/96 unreleased mixes from Movers & Shakers of "Better the Devil You Know" and "What Kind Of Fool" that are very good too. The New 2002 W.I.P. Mix of "Hand On your Heart" is excellent. So if you have loved Kylie since 1988 or just found her in 2002 this is an excellent collection of her youth with Stock Aitken Waterman and the hits that made her a huge star.
