Better than Brokeback, 16 Mar. 2006
The film is about 2 Israeli soldiers stationed on the Lebanon border and although the protagonists keep their love for each other a secret, there is no sense that this is because of homophobia in the Israeli army (quite the contrary apparently). It has been compared to Brokeback Mountain but somehow Yossi and Jagger seems more realistic. The characters were certainly more loveable (you'll want to take Jagger home) and the main love scene almost magical. It is a short film (just over 60 mins) but it leaves you wishing it was longer (whereas I found myself wishing Brokeback was a bit shorter).
It is the type of gay film you would want your straight friends to see.
