4.0 out of 5 stars A historical commentary on Pagan beliefs in Britain, 29 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is not actually the 'Wiccan Prmer' it is generally made out to be , but is largely a seemingly scholarly historical commentary on various religious beliefs and practices, focusing mainly on Paganism in in Britain . The chief question hanging over the validity of the book is whether or not Gardner's findings are based on genuine fact .

4.0 out of 5 stars Groovy Jazz, 21 April 2014

This review is from: Blue 60's (Audio CD)
Seriously groovy 60's themed jazz album with a good variety of styles ; from 'Bacharach' style jazz to psychedelic jazz and 'mod' style r'n'b style jazz ; it's all a bit 'Austin Powers' baby !.
There's a slight 'black lib' theme on a couple of tracks but most of them are instrumental . It also includes a full version of the theme from Barry Norman's old T.V show ( it's called 'I wish I knew how it would feel to be free'). Overall a very strong collection and an enjoyable and relaxing listen

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly fun ...., 10 Mar 2014

A compilation of mid to late period rock'n'roll some of which verges on bubblegum ( eg :'Sunglasses' ) . Aside from the mostly well known Del Shannon tracks there are a few 'slipped under the radar should've been hits' here , notably 'White Bucks And Saddle Shoes' and 'Cleopatra' . The 'Return To Sender' paraphrase song 'Don't Want Your Letters' is an interesting novelty , as is Del Shannon's 'The Swiss Maid ' . Other 'honourable mentions' go to 'Little Lover' , 'If I never Get to Love You' and 'The Steady Kind' .This is mostly light hearted 'Juke Box' music from the era that 'Grease' and 'Happy Days' both celebrated .

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but ...., 9 Mar 2014

The manufacturer describes the taste of these as 'nutty' ; in my opinion that is inaccurate . The texture is 'nutty' but the flavour is actually more 'egg like' and slightly sulphurous . Basically , if you don't like eggs you probably won't like the flavour of these seeds .
In my experience they are best added to (sweetened) breakfast cereals and rice , noodle and pasta dishes or anything with mayonnaise .They can also be added to stews and soups . They have a good protein/amino acid 'spectrum' so they make a good supplement for vegetarians and vegans .

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice but a bit pricey ...., 9 Mar 2014

There are more economical 'bulk buy' deals for miso on Amazon than this , but I decided to opt for this ( lower initial price ) to try miso to see if I liked it .
This is a tasty , high quality , product that actually tastes similar to Marmite , and can be spread on toast or put in soups and stews instead of 'stock' . Most people who like salty food would probably like this .

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent compilation....., 25 Feb 2014

Probably not to everyone's taste but more fun than you might expect . Featuring a lot of mostly upbeat and witty songs by early blues artists , this compilation really demonstrates how blues were the inspiration for the early rock'n'rollers , even showing where Elvis got his 'play it loose boys' catch-phrase from .

The Man Who Ate Everything: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Food, But Were Afraid to Ask
The Man Who Ate Everything: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Food, But Were Afraid to Ask
by Jeffrey Steingarten
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Literature about food ..., 4 Feb 2014
For once a very well written and 'classically literate' book by an American author ; this is really a book of creative and amusing writing on the subject of food . It is a collection of the author's articles which were originally written for Vogue magazine , and includes a lot of interesting information about the food of the world ,presented mainly in an anecdotal style and also includes some valuable hints on food preparation . Jeffery Steingarten used to occasionally appear as a judge on Iron Chef America ; he seems to be one of a dying breed of 'cultured' Americans . These articles complied make a great book that's virtually essential reading for the 'food and cookery enthusiast' .

This is an excellent product for artists who want to avoid the fuss of stretching paper or canvas . It is a pad of thick treated paper . It's not as good quality as canvas of course , but is very useful for making quick sketches in oil or acrylic paint .

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant gizmo , low price, 10 Dec 2013

This is a basic but genuine retro monophonic (ie: it only plays one note at a time , no chords ) synth at an amazingly low price , considering the usual price of analogue synthesizers . You can plug a keyboard or guitar into it and use it as an effects box ; thus turning your ordinary electronic keyboard (for example ) into a bigger monophonic synth capable of pulsating disco noises etc... . Used on multi-track recordings this type of setup can stand in for a real polyphonic synth (with no need for midi connectivity). A fun creative tool at a good price .

2.0 out of 5 stars An unfinished work...., 19 Nov 2013

Sadly Gurdjieff was apparently unable to finish his 'Great Trilogy' , of which this was intended to be the third installment ; in fact it seems to be a terribly incomplete 'botch job' and consequently doesn't contain much of interest . As far as I remember he died before having finished it and what is published here is more of a remnant than a complete book . A better book to learn the ideas of Gurdjieff from , and possibly the rightful 'third volume' of 'All and Everything', is the compendium of his speeches 'Views from The Real World' , posthumously collected and published by his close students. Personally, though, I'm not sure whether his ideas have any real validity or not ; He is a fascinating character , but much of what he claimed smacks of post-Victorian 'hokum' .
