1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous- beware, 28 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First time I used it Windows live virus checker identified a virus on it. Surely it couldnt be? I checked several more times and the same warning appeared. I put it to one side and never used it for a few weeks. Then last week I needed to have some A1 plans scanned at a bureau, couldnt find my usual usb stick so took this kingston with me. It crashed their machine and they too had a virus warning. Now returned to amazon. Beware

2.0 out of 5 stars Fujitsu S1500 Scansnap Scanner, 11 Aug 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased Scansnap S1500 (PC version)on recommendation here & elsewhere. Not the prettiest of office accessories, rather angular and clumpy in appearance. Document catch tray rather flimsy. Not TWAIN or ISIS compatible so, as others have said, it will only work with dedicated Fujitsu & their partner software (I knew that anyway). Im running this under Windows 7 64bit with Intel i7/930 12GB Ram - so its not a snail PC im running. It takes a while to run round the houses and work out which is the latest driver set as the CD it ships with is XP (SP3)compatible so it means downloading new driver from Fujitsu web (For me that was two files 256MB & 60MB respectively). Likewise, Adobe 9.0 Standard that its shipped with, also needs updating. You have to 'push' the OS to accept the latest drivers otherwise Win 7 installs its own oudated set of drivers which has a few glitches when you try to use the Scansnap software. When it works it scans very swiftly and better than any HP have on offer. Im getting around 15 documents per minute ... when it doesnt jam which is probably 25% of the time. Its still not working right; the system hangs sometimes especially after a paper jam. It seems the only way to continue scanning is to unplug the power & repower up as there is no on/off switch on the scanner. So overall, Im not very impressed. An improvement on HP's efforts (their drivers are dreadful), however the S1500 is overpriced and over-rated for what it is. If the gadget regularly jams then its a pain. Its not shipped with a hard user manual but dvd manual only. The documentation recommends cleaning every couple of 1000 scans to prevent jamming but Fujitsu cant be bothered to include a starter cleaning kit which would only cost them a few pence. I'll persevere for a few days but if it continues to 'hang & jam' its going back. Im not convinced that this scanner is Win 7 64 compliant despite what Fujitsu claim. I only gave the S1500 2 stars because HP are worse ... and after 13 years of HP scanners I give up!Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 - Document scanner - Duplex - 216 x 360 mm - 600 dpi x 600 dpi - up to 20 ppm (mono) / up to 20 ppm (colour) - ADF ( 50 sheets ) - Hi-Speed USB
