3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasent surprise, 20 Oct. 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Just before I played this game for the first time , I was a bit apprenhensive . I still remember fondly of MOH Allied Assault on the PC way back in 2002 but as time went on the MOH franchise seemed to lose its way . So much so that I did not even bother looking at the last two releases .
So with their decision to move to the modern day I was hoping this would breath life in to the series.
I have to report that this game is incrediably fun and much more than I was expecting . The graphics look superb on my 50 inch hd pioneer , even better than COD , but more impressive is the sound . I have a good quality 5.1 system and you can hear the difference between an AK47 and a M16 .
The reason for myself giving this game 3 stars is quite simple . It is not ground breaking or original . After you have played both single and multiplayer you feal that its a mixture of CODMW and Battlefield BC .

As a final note probably the biggest issue is the context of the game itself . In my opinion the choice of setting a FPS in a conflict that is currently ongoing is questionable . I do feal a bit uneasy playing this and having fun . But to get into this subject fully you would have to write a paper and Amazon is not the place to do it.

3.0 out of 5 stars To Dub or not to Dub?, 12 Oct. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
To start off , this is a great criminal series and highly watchable . There are some great characters and you will enjoy following their individual stories .
I would of given it more stars if it was dubbed into english , I know this a personel choice but I am not a great fan of following subtitles . Yes you do lose some quality in the acting but i would like to be given the choice of having subtitles or dubbed .

4.0 out of 5 stars A missed opportunity, 23 July 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
To start off , this is the best overview of WW1 on Dvd you can buy. Considering it is almost 50yrs old now it still is as good if not better than historical documentaries made today .
The Reasons for going to war and why events happened is very clearly explained . The indivdual battle plans and political plans are also given great analysis.
The only let down is that the last few episodes feal that they have been rushed and are not up to the standard of the first half.
However looking at this now I would of liked to see more interviews with soliders as this is the most valuable resourse to insight into the war itself . As we all know now there are nomore 'Tommys' left alive and i wonder if the producers knew what a valuable resourse they where?

3.0 out of 5 stars Lost in traffic, 15 July 2010
This review is from: City Delirious (Audio CD)
After listening to this album you will feal a bit lost . This is because it is not as cohesive as their first excellent album . There are some original , stand out tracks but is not enough to give this 5 stars . Its a shame that the memebers split after this album as they made some of the best original music of the late 90's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Usual quality from BBC history dept., 2 July 2010
A superb collection of documentaries from the BBC archives from the past 20 years . All the heavy weights are here , Laurence Rees (Nazis a warning from history, War of the Century , Auschwitz ) narrated by Samuel West , the best narrator ever . Richard Holmes ( battlefields ) , etc.
It may be a bit 'pricey' but with this sort of quality over a total of 20 hours you cannot complain.
Improvements? Well anything can be improved and I would of like to have seen included, War Walks by Richard Holmes and Jeremy Clarksons 2 execellent documentaries about Victoria Cross and the raid on ST Nazire.

I hope in the future that the BBC does the same with World War One.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock On, 1 July 2010
This must be one the best books about the First World War . Mr Holmes tells what it was like to be a soldier in the British Army during this period ,from the lowest private to the highest general . He does go into detail about how units are structured and how orders are communicated and enforced . Also what day to day life was like and how they where taught to use their equipment .
He gives plenty of first hand accounts to add gravitas and although some do help you understand the shear hell , he does interdisperse this with lightheaarted ones .
It would help the reader if you have a basic understanding of the Western Front , I would read J Keegan's Excellent The First World War first .
I finished the book over a couple of days and feal that i have a much better understanding of the British soldier in this period .

One for the DJ's . Quiet begining , tension builds , storming entry to main . Played this numerous times in clubs and it never fails to get the crowd going mental .

Nixon: The Invincible Quest
Nixon: The Invincible Quest
by Conrad Black
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Different, 16 Jun. 2010
Having read a number of books about the life of Richard Nixon , this certainly takes a different stance . Most say the same thing that he was good politician but with serious flaws and he should never been made president .
Conrad Black argues that most of the 'dodgy' things he did ( watergate , plumbers , secret bombings) he was entitled and right to do so .
This got me thinking why has Mr Black taken this stance? The book has been well researched and through his contacts he gets some good quotes and he lived in the states during this period . Then I remembered that he got imprisioned for perjury and fraud!
So if someone can 'understand' Nixon then you could argue that the best person to do so is someone most like Nixon himself.
