5.0 out of 5 stars Unbeatable for the price, 2 May 2012

Amazing. I don't know how amazon can provide such a quality (and lengthy!) cable at this price. I use it to connect my iPad (with the Apple AV Adapter) to my TV.

Feather-light device with a high contrast screen, paired with a battery that just goes on forever. The menu system is a breeze to master, as is purchasing e-books from the Amazon book store. And they arrive in a few seconds. The great thing is that your kindle comes "linked" to your Amazon account, so you can start downloading and reading books straight away - yes, the Kindle even comes charged up!

You can get the cartridges in most larger supermarkets for the same/slightly cheaper price. Nevertheless, Cannon need to stop being so tight and include more ink/make the cartridges in their printers much bigger!!!

If you know some of the basics then you really don't need this book. I leafed through 90% of the book before I got to the section I wanted (the different focussing abilities of my NEX-5N). Even this information is available on line if you search for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legit Item purchased from 'Global Bargains UK' on Amazon Marketplace, 2 May 2012

Was concerned about the reported fake items being sold on Amazon, so went with seller offering the item in the middle price bracket of those available. The item arrived from Global Bargains UK (fulfilled by Amazon) and it is a GENUINE Sony battery.

It differs slightly from the battery which came with my NEX-5N, but I understand from Sony that the design/information on batteries supplied to their factories for inclusion in items such as cameras differs slightly from those available in the retail market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legit item that works well, but beware (general helpful tip)..., 2 May 2012

Great product. However, you should be aware that there is an increasing number of fake flash storage thumb/USB drives, cards etc on the market.

Whenever you purchase new flash storage, make sure it is legit by using the FREE programme "h2testw". It takes about 30 mins to test and verify a 16GB SD Card.

Why should you test your flash memory?
- Easy 1: a fake card can corrupt your precious data/photos etc and no "recovery" programme can bring them back.
- Easy 2: a fake card's controller chip will tell the device you're using it in that it is a certain memory size, when in fact the amount of memory is much smaller. When it tries to write to that non-existent memory your device will fail and you'll lose the data. This can be very annoying when you've just taken that perfect photo and it disappears in a flash (no pun intended!).

Absolute necessity to clean your camera lens/lenses. Do not use it to clean the sensor - you need other specialist products for that. (They are also available on Amazon.)

The storage case is no bigger than a Tic-Tac sweets case, yet holds a 15cm x 15cm cloth. It's ultra soft and I believe you can wash it.

Tip when cleaning lenses: wipe in straight lines NOT circular motions. This is a general rule and not a 'quirk' to be aware of with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic little product, 2 May 2012

A quarter of the price Apple wants you to pay, but does the job of transferring jpeg and RAW image files from camera (via USB cable included with your camera) or by plugging the SD card into the device. Effortless, really!

Build quality isn't as great as Apple (plastic casing feels thinner but isn't flimsy/doesn't 'flex' under pressure). But then what do you expect for the price. It also comes with a removable 'cover' to protect the connector when the device isn't in use.

Only two very insignificant quirks:

1. Your iPad will say "device not supported" if your camera doesn't save images to the (industry standard) "DCIM" folder in the SD card. As far as I am aware all manufactures now follow this naming practice, so you shouldn't have any issues.

2. The camera has to be connected to the device or the SD card inserted into the device before iPhoto will load i.e. plugging in the device to the iPad on its own will do nothing. However, if you do this you can then connect the camera/insert the SD card without having to first remove the device from the iPad. iPhoto will then load.

I haven't tried plugging a keyboard into the device yet, but then who wants to use a 'wired' keyboard with their iPad? You can buy a cheap bluetooth one which is much easier to carry on your travels.

You won't be disappointed with this device.
