5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible clarity., 12 April 2011
I've read several Mahamudra books & books on Sanatan Dharma also. In response to the negative comments, who knows if this book is for beginner or advanced? Surely it depends on the stage one has reached on one's path! Never have i read a more clear explanation of such a complex subject, what Geshe Kelsang Gyatso does is present THE most profound teachings of the highest stages of Mahayana Buddhism in such a straightforward & understandable way. Granted, this book isn't filled with the poetic language of many of the earlier texts & maybe that's a good thing. This was written for the modern age & simply explains the practice & results. This is 2011 & we should be thankful someone has taken the time to present such incredible information in such a 'Mundane' way with the minimum of poetic padding. I love the classic Mahamudra texts by Tashi Namgyal etc but if you'd like a no nonsense explanation written for a modern audience, it doesn't get any clearer than this. I'd also recommend Heart Advice from a Mahamudra Master by Heart Advice from a Mahamudra Master which is a must read in my humble opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars As close to the Buddha as you'll get., 31 Mar. 2011
Anything published by Rangjung Yeshe publications is worth buying. Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche was a master yogi in the Dzogchen & Mahamudra traditions. It was by his request that this translation was made available. If you have an interest in Buddhism, google Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. No matter what tradition you follow you'll gain something worthwhile.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true master., 31 Mar. 2011
If you have any spiritual aspirations, this book is a must read. Clear, direct & full of compassion. The starting point is having compassion for ourselves, accepting the one who we see in the mirror every day, warts & all! Think you're unworthy or lack self confidence? Buy this book & learn to be kind to yourself, you deserve it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Priceless!, 25 Feb. 2011
As there are no reviews of this masterpiece, It's my privilege to go first. This book contains the complete path to enlightenment. It's not a book to be read but rather a book to be lived with. The depth & bredth of this material was once only available by direct transmission from the Guru of one who was fortunate enough to recieve the teachings. Worth ten times the price for those who are sincerely on the path.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real deal!, 25 Feb. 2011
This review is from: Joyful Wisdom (Kindle Edition)
Another true gem from a teacher who's able to introduce the deepest concepts & practices of Mahayana Buddism in an almost casual manner. Stunning work from a stainless lineage. This book, like his first can change your life in a matter of days! For those with a little more study behind them Vajra Speech: Pith Instructions for the Dzogchen Yogi This is by Mingyur Rinpoche's father... A priceless work in the old "Pointing out" style, a Dzogchen & Mahamudra master who's wisdom is evident from the first page :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get better than this!, 25 Feb. 2011
You will never find a better book on Buddhism. Whatever lineage or method you practice, this book is a rare gem & should be on any serious students reading list. I'll even buy it off you if you disagree!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning work!, 24 Feb. 2011
For those with the "ears to hear," this book contains the essence of 2500 years of knowledge. The author is a storehouse of wisdom & kindly shares the entire teaching of the path to enlightenment. Read this book slowly with a relaxed open mind & the blessings of the author will be evident. If you read the book & don't grasp the meaning then buy Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's book "The joy of living" as it's a more gentle introduction to the Dharma.

5.0 out of 5 stars All can enjoy!, 24 Feb. 2011
I'm not a Muslim but this book shows the true beauty of the faith. I only wish the general public could be shown the true meaning of this stainless teaching. As in all religions, the real purpose is to purify oneself of ignorance & self grasping. We must use this incarnation to work for the benefit of others & get a glimpse of the real meaning of which all the great ones teach. Muhammad, Buddha & Christ all taught the same message of compassion & purification of the soul as the ultimate path to God. In this way only, will we be united with the one great source. God , Allah or Dharmakaya. Wonderful!
