5.0 out of 5 stars Morning Dexter!, 15 Jan 2006
From the sane people that brought you "The Fast Lady", here is another British comedy classic!
Stanley Baxter is great of course, but the real star here is the magnificent James Robertson Justice. The man lights up the screen with his booming presence and yes, he does bellow "Nincompoop!" at some poor individual in this film too!
Classic moment is his hefty slap on the backside as a morning alarm call for poor old Stanley Baxter (Dexter).
Sadly no extras, but good sound and picture and the original trailer. Fans of decent British comedy, the type they no longer make, will love this gem. Also features a young Ronnie Barker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic entertainment!, 15 Jan 2006
Anyone who remembers the Comic Strip from the 80's will know how good most of these films are and it's great to see them again.
Most of them stand the test of time and are as good as they ever were. Obviously, with 38 episodes and one feature film in the set, they are going to be hit and miss, but when the Comic Strip hit, they are fantastic and have created some classics.
I have the same gripe as other reviewers, in that the excellent film "Eat The Rich" is not included. There is no explantion why. Copyright problems? Different distributor?
It all seems odd as the Comic Strip were on C4 and BBC and also there is the feature film "Supergrass", so if they can get all those into one set, why not ETR?
Grumbles aside, the stuff that's on here will delight any fan of the series. Also, there are some great extras, well worth getting!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great to see this show on DVD, 7 Oct 2005
This review is from: Sorry!: Series 1 And 2 [DVD] (DVD)
This series is just as good as I remember it and never fails to raise a laugh.
It ran for 8 years on BBC1 in 80's and maintained the quality throughout.
This release has no extras sadly but contains series one and two and will provide many hours of retro comedy fun.
I just hope all subsequent series will be released too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anderson's best., 25 Sep 2005
Flimsy cardboard packaging aside (you would expect more for the price) this is an excellent release with a lot of care and attention taken in restoring the episodes.
It looks great and the menu's are superbly designed.
There could have been more extra features, but the series itself is enough to justify the purchase of this box set.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best ever British sci-fi series, 25 Sep 2005
Both UFO box sets are excellent releases and deserve a place on the shelf of any sci-fi fan, young or old.
The ships, vehiciles and outfits still look good today and the effects are all acheived with models rather than fake looking CGI effects.
The sound and picture quality on these releases is fantastic and flawless and there are a few interesting extra features. (Though these could have been better)
This was Gerry Anderson's most mature show and the stories are still just as riviting today as they were at the time of it's broadcast.
So whether you are thinking of buying this for nostalgia reason or want to discover UK sci-fi at it's best, this series is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great family film., 24 Sep 2005
This is an excellent family film and features ice hockey playing chimps. What more do you need?
The story of a runaway chimp who befriends a young boy and his deaf sister who have just moved to Canada and are having trouble making friends. The boy teaches the chimp (Jack) to play ice hockey and he becomes, to quote one of the films excellent songs, the Coolest Looking Dude On Ice.
Funny and heartwarming. I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simian snowboarding extrvaganza., 24 Sep 2005
This review is from: Most Xtreme Primate [DVD] (DVD)
The chimps in the MVP series of films really are simian cinema's all-time greats.
This is the third in the series of MVP films and in my opinion, the weakest. Though if you liked the previous films you will enjoy this.
The apes are fantastic as usual and their mix of stunts and excellent visual comedy is a winner as ever.
What let's the film down for me (and loses it a star) is the humans. In the previous two films they were bland but inoffensive, but in this one there is a really awful skater, stoner "dude" type who cannot act in any way whatsoever. To make matters worse he in an awful thrash metal band who play some of their terrible songs throughout the film.
If you can stomach him, there are some fine moments here from Louie and Jack, especially the chimp snowboard scenes.
This is worth getting if you loved the other two, but is the weakest of the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent set!, 23 Sep 2005
Both sets in this series of full-length Benny Hill Show episodes from Thames TV have been excellent and this is just as good.
Classic shows from 75-77 with many unforgettable moments and this set also contains the rare film 'Eddie In August'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality - great show!, 23 Sep 2005
Morrissey's well-deserved comeback last year was a joy to behold in a pop world full of mediocrity and this live concert captures him in all his glory.
For those that bemoan there are not enough Smiths songs (this is a solo Morrissey concert after all) the "Live At Earls Court" album should satisfy you as it includes some Smiths classics.
But this concert is a trawl through Moz's back catalogue and features "A Rush and A Push" which has never been performed live before.
The quality, video and audio, is excellent here and much better than the previous "Live In Dallas" release, and is a pleasure to watch.
If you are a fan of the great man and do not own this DVD, do yourself a favour and order a copy at this bargain price.
