5.0 out of 5 stars Better than people would have you believe., 20 April 2010
The general consensus is that this series is not as good as the BBC ones, but after watching it again, years later, it is far better than people would have you believe with a couple of episodes that are real classics.

There are loads of cultural references that younger viewers may not get (ie: Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious World) but the slapstick humour and silliness you would expect from the Goodies is as great as ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wha choo talkin 'bout Willis?, 20 April 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The classic 80's sitcom is even cheesier when watched all these years later. Modern audiences may find the stories corny, but that is part of their charm.
Great performances from Gary Colman is what makes this series.

The extras aren't up to much. There is a documentary about Gary, but sadly no interviews with the man himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great debut but best was yet to come., 20 April 2010
The other reviews detail the positive, uplifting sound of TPS.
This is a good album, a little underproduced but it sounds like the band were having a great time making it.
The follow-up, "Together We're Heavy" is their classic. Much richer in sound and with a superior production but there are some great tracks on this debut.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written, compulsive reading., 20 April 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A great book detailing this history of brainwashing from various means including military experiments with hypnosis and LSD, religious cults, hidden messages in heavy metal albums, right up to modern interrogation techniques.
No pie-in-the-sky conspiracy theories here, this book is based on factual accounts and is excellently researched.

It's written in an accessible, easy-to-read style and is what used to be deemed a "page turner".
If you have an interest in this subject, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Selwyn!, 20 April 2010
It's great to see this series on DVD at last, full marks to Network for consistently releasing forgotten gems such as this.
I would say the second series really got into it's stride and is funnier and more tightly scripted than the first.

Great performances from the cast, most of all Bill Maynard as the lovable buffoon Selwyn.

5.0 out of 5 stars The complete shows., 5 April 2010
This review is from: Sez Les [DVD] (DVD)
A lot of people bemoan the fact that these kind of shows, with their special guests, singers etc are released in their complete form rather than a compiled 'best of'.

Being someone who saw these shows originally, it's great to see them (as was the case with the Tommy Cooper DVDs) as they were originally show. Les is on top form here, delivering great gags, good sketches and of course his inimitable piano playing.

Excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars T'riffic!, 5 April 2010
Being a lover of 1970's sitcoms, I greatly enjoyed this DVD. It's almost like a parody of seventies comedy in it's lovable cliches and catchphrases, not to mention the hammy acting, but it's charm has been retained all these years later and is a nostalgic period piece for those that recall this from the time.

Mike Reid is superb in it, playing the cockney wide-boy to perfection. Can't wait for the second series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bizarre and startling images., 5 April 2010
I am not usually one for fancy tarot decks, preferring to stick with the ugly, but iconic Rider-Waite deck.

These caught my attention as I liked the style of the artwork and there are some dark and bizarre images on these cards which reminded me of the work of one of my favourite artists Hieronymous Bosch.

Unlike some of the modern tarot decks, the images here are easy to work with and have a creepy, surreal vibe to them which, though not to everyones taste, will be loved by those that enjoy this kind of imagary.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very short but interesting., 5 April 2010

As a very brief overview of the ouija board, this book is an ok read, albeit a brief one.

It tends to focus on stories regarding the boards uses and theories as to how it works rather than the usage of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fandabidozi read!, 1 April 2010
Honest, amusing and full of anecdotes, this book is a great read.
The Krankies are showbiz legends who have worked alongside many other greats and they are honest, often brutally about people.

Brill-yant!

Wee Jimmy Krankie rules ok!
