Squeezebox Boom, 25 Jan. 2010
Squeezebox boom is a wifi enabled internet radio that also links to your PC/Laptop through your wifi router and can access files and folders on your computer to play music through the squeezebox where ever it is located in the house.
The types of Squeezebox available do vary, I chose the squeezebox boom because of the twin speakers to give a better sound than the single speaker version which is slightly cheaper. After hearing the single speaker version and now owning the 'Squeezebox boom' I much prefer the deeper sound quality provided by the 'boom'.
It's a great way of playing your music collection remotely around the house.
No more changing tracks, it's so simple to use via the remote or the front controls.
You have to have your computer and wifi on for this to work, there is no DAB radio signal as it all works via the internet for the radio, but the choice of stations available certainly exceeds what's available on DAB.
Sometimes you may find that continued use of your router will mean the signal may drop out and that can be a bit frustrating if you suffer from this problem.
Would I recommend this product - Yes, it's small and compact but has a very good sound and volume for it's size, it's a talking point when friends arrive, the more music you have on your PC system the better it will be, more choice, but the extensive range of radio stations available on-line will certainly mean you will not be lacking in something to listen to.
