4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read, 5 Nov. 2014

Really enjoyed this book as I have all of Hilary Boyd' s books so far. Read it almost in two sessions as it was easy to engage with the characters, modern and funny in places too. Liked the device character of Donna who was Jo' s sounding board and the daughter married to the eco warrior! Interesting also to have a 60 year old protagonist who manages to hook up with a guy 15 years her junior! Ended up feeling sorry for Lawence even though he started the chain of events.

A good book but not quite as good as some of Erica James's other books. Enjoyed reading it though anyway.

Absolutely brilliant - I couldn't put it down! For a first novel it was exceptionally well crafted. Can't wait for the next one from the lovely Judy Finnegin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cash:The Autobiography, 1 Jun. 2009
This book is really interesting and it had me gripped. Johnny is one of my all time heroes and I have read lots of books on him, but this one is written in his own words and it makes you feel he is speaking to you directly. There are lots of details about his drug fuelled days and how he always had to fight the demons of his addiction, right up until he was old. He also documents his two marriages and his encounters with other celebs and gives an insight into his family. Such a good book I will probably read it again soon - a must for Cash fans everywhere!

I found this book very interesting and read it in a few days. John Carter Cash writes well and you get the feeling that he's a decent man. He writes with sensitivity and his writing shows that he must have loved his parents very much. However,I was astonished to read that June Carter was also addicted to drugs like Johnny and not sure that he should have disclosed this family secret. Also there was lots of detail about the rows June and Johnny had, which sort of dispels the myth that they were love's young dream. I was expecting more info about the Cash daughters, but it would seem from his account that they were mostly absent when he was growing up. The book is very sad at the end when June and Johnny die. Well worth a read if you're a fan of June Carter and Johnny Cash.
