I was hooked from the first page. Louise's skill is impeccable, with twists and suspense cultivated the whole way through. As well as a masterly technique, Louise has huge courage in addressing deep themes in a way that is accessible and authentic. The unreliable author is compelling and endearing, and the use of the second person is unusual and effective. It's a masterpiece and completely addictive - brilliant characters, brilliant plot and brilliant style!

Dark Ride
Dark Ride
by Caroline Green
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A sophisticated and edge-of-your-seat page-turner for teenagers, 20 May 2011
This review is from: Dark Ride (Paperback)
Caroline Green has written a sophisticated and edge-of-your-seat page-turner for teenagers. This book kept me hooked until the end, and I related to the characters (even though they were half my age).

The story is well-crafted and tackles several strong themes, including broken marriages and modern slavery, which are woven expertly and flawlessly into the plot. It is poignant, powerful and funny and has a sprinkling of romance - in short, it is a teenage love story with elements of the supernatural and putting the unjust world to right.
