The Damage Done: Twelve Years Of Hell In A Bangkok Prison
The Damage Done: Twelve Years Of Hell In A Bangkok Prison

4.0 out of 5 stars A cautionary tale, 3 Oct 2010
If you ever thought that international drug smuggling sounded exciting and glamorous then one chapter of this will make you think again. Warren's book is the anthesis of the Mr Nice stories peddled by Howard Marks and the like. This is a chilling account of one man struggling against a system which has no concern for his survival. Human rights are extinguished with chilling ease. This book has even made me consider whether I ever want to visit Thailand for fear of being fitted up by a corrupt border guard!

4.0 out of 5 stars Out of the frying pan, into the fire., 3 Oct 2010
This review is from: In the Danger Zone (Hardcover)
Stefan's journey is a fascinating one. He is a brave man venturing into war zones where food and resources are scarce. He admits his fears along the journey which made me warm to the author.

The chapter on bushmeat in Cameroon was highly informative. The local people are ex-forest dwellers who prize the meat from chimps, gorillas and other simians. He describes well the conflicts around whim which are sometimes exacerbated by the simple act of cooking food in villages or refugee camps where people have not eaten for days.

I now intend to download the accompanying tv series.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just wait till Buchanan's version of events, 29 Aug 2007
A little birdie tells me that former top boy, Scott "Ringo" Buchanan is bringing out his own version of events.

Read about Irvine Welsh's time as a Hearts fan and the day that John Leslie was caught with his breeks down in the Laughing Duck.
