Imagination at it's absolute best. This is now probably my favourite film of all time, and I'm old, and seen hundreds of films. So why this one, well, where on earth do you start? A stunning adventure that takes you from the human world, into the spirit world with main character Chihiro. She needs to stay smart while working in Yubaba's bathhouse (in the spirit world), to rescue her parents who have been turned into pigs being made ready for slaughter. The imagination used in this film is spellbinding, the characters are engrossing, from Kamajii who looks after the boiler with his many arms, No Face, who only says "ah" in the whole film but pulls you in with his actions, and Haku, the Spirit of the Kohaku River who can transform into a stunning dragon, he is the one who helps Chihiro while she is in the sprit world. Sound confusing, well it really isn't, just watch the film, sit back and be transported into a wonderful story.

Visually, it doesn't get much better than this, the detail in this cell animation is as remarkable as the story itself. You can see why, in 2003, it won the Academy Award for best Animation.

Wonderful, what is not too like? Bought this for my four year old daughter who absolutely loves it, more so even than Frozen :) A lovely tale of a young witch (Kiki) who embarks in some training away from home and decides to set up a delivery service with a local bakery. Touching on the issues of starting a new life, making new friends and starting out in life, something we have all been through. I especially love her little black cat Jiji who is full of sarcasm and humour. There is no spirit world, dragons or waring armies in this film, but is just a warm story, spot on family entertainment

4.0 out of 5 stars Visual Masterpiece, 5 Jan. 2015

I absolutely love Studio Ghibli, and am gutted they might not be producing any more films :( Was lucky enough to get this as an xmas present so now have the complete collection lol. However, this film is quite different for Ghibli. It is based on the life of Jiro Horikoshi, who designed the renowned Japanese Zero aircraft. However, because it is more of a biopic, and started the story from when he was a boy right up to the time the Zero flew, I personally think it tried to fit too much into a short time. I found it didn't really have the time to truly discover who Jiro was. He lives through some astonishing times and events, but in the film it is so quick you don't really get a chance to digest it. I especially thought it skipped over his relationship with his wife way too quickly. Don't get me wrong, this is a visual masterpiece and I do love it, but think that some events could of been left out to allow time to develop more important ones.
Well worth the time in your life to watch it though :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Aw, what the hell, I don't got that long a lifespan anyway..., 25 Aug. 2014
This was freecking amazing. I had been seeing lots of great comments about this film on social media and thought what the heck, lets go to the cinema. A place I've not been to since being hugely disappointed by Prometheus. But this film is everything cinema and movies are made for. Fun, exciting, great CGI, great characters, in fact, one of the best characters in a long long time (Rocket) and most importantly, characters you connect with. No amount of CGI can do that, is has to come from the script and film making itself.

One of the best movies I've seen in a long long time and can't wait for the DVD to come out so I can watch it again, and please please make a sequel, please, with the same writers, editors, director etc etc this is one sequel that might just work :)

5.0 out of 5 stars What are the critics watching, 16 Jan. 2014
This review is from: The Lone Ranger [DVD] (DVD)
This was absolutely fantastic. I just can't understand all the negative publicity this got when it was at the cinema. That put me off and it's a real shame as it was genius, hilarious and totally entertaining. Sometimes I think it's best to ignore these arrogant critics and see it for yourself. I'm now kicking myself for not seeing it at the cinema. Totally loved this highly recommend :)

Doing my usual browse trying to find some new tunes when i stumbled upon this. A quick listen on Amazon and Youtube and I bought the whole album and haven't stopped listening to it. It is dark and utterly beautiful and i don't understand why I haven't heard of them before. Dark Doo Wop is simply stunning. If you're a fan of the darker side of pop then this will not disappoint. Can't wait to hear more from them :)

This is brilliant fun, really does look like a lens I even almost put it in my camera back :? But be careful if you're going to have a hot cup of tea or coffee in it, the mug gets extremely hot itself that is the only downside.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic second season, 16 Mar. 2013
Only just started watching Walking Dead and after the first season I went straight out and bought the second, and it just gets better. There are twists and turns and things happening you really thought wouldn't. Edge of your seat stuff, the actors are top draw and play all their individual roles to perfection. I've just watched the whole of the second season in three evening, thats 13 episodes, and now I have to wait for season 3 to come out on dvd booo. The only other series that has been this enjoyable for me is Game of Thrones. If you've never seen it, or have the firt and worry that the second series won't match up, then don't worry it certainly does in abundance.

This is a great little book with some rather surprising famous people in it. Basically a collection of fun images taken on nights out. Not many people properly document this type of life. The images are quite 'in your face' with his use of flash photography and could of maybe been a bit more creative but what you're left with is a quirky set if images that are great to flick through.
