This was the first LP for EMI she made in 1975 after being with DECCA for 16 year and it was a very well sold album too!! "So bin ich zu dir" was the start of 5 succesful years att EMI, also thanks to composer Heinz Gietz and lyricist Kurt Feltz. The songs are well chosen and arranged!

It has taken 53 years after it’s recording, between 1 & 7 September 1961 and 52 years after it’s original release in February 1962 for this album to reach the CD! The album “The many voices of ....” is truly one of the most excellent albums of Caterina & Silvio, they were music personified, they blended so well together! Thanks to Mr. Richard Tay and his team at Sepia Records UK it now finally can be enjoyed again in digitally remastered quality and in stereo. I remember when it first came out in February 1962, it was only available in mono and it sounded fantastic, later in June 1968 (6 years later)it came also in stereo and it sounded fabulous! Many folks back then didn’t have stereo equipment, it wasn’t as normal as today, so mono sounded okay at first. This album was recorded between 1 and 7 September 1961 at the Fonior Studios in Brussels, together with Heinz Kiessling and his orchestra. In the first attempt of putting this album together two songs; “Israeli Lullaby” and “Changing of the guards” were meant to be on this album, but they had to make way for two other songs; “Nightingale” and “Corporation”. Israeli Lullaby was later in November 1961 released on an EP called “Die andere Valente” (The other Valente) Decca DX 2209, whilst “Changing of the guards” stayed unreleased...that’s to say it was only ‘released’ as white label promo single also somewhere in November 1961 and after that never to be heard of.
‘Nightingale’....as I lie on my pillow, I can hear you in the willow, singing love songs to the moon or Dream of me oh my ‘Pretty Pretty’, shou shou shou dream of me my love, I wish my love could keep you here by my side, but when the sea starts calling, you go with the tide or Each day eagerly I await ‘The yellow mailcoach’, I’m waiting for the handsome mailcoach boy, my heart pounds every time I hear the yellow mailcoach, to see the drivers face fills me with joy or Look at the world around you and you’ll see it’s an awful mess, living is getting higher and your bankroll is getting less, I’ve got a great solution that will lead you to happiness, come on and join me down in ‘Port-au-Prince’. Just a few excerpts from the wonderful, innocent and poetic song lyrics on this album, but so beautifully sung and arranged by Caterina & Silvio together with the fantastic Heinz Kiessling orchestra. A real masterpiece of it’s time and this is one of the most excellent albums of Caterina & Silvio from the early sixties. A true gem in the musical career of two so awfully talented people, who used their gift to bring musical joy to mankind for many years. Silvio is sad to say no longer with us, he died on the 20th August 2000, but Caterina is still very much alive, 84 years old and enjoying her retirement in good health.
Then there’s the 1962 album “Caterina on Tour” which was a compilation LP released in August 1962 and also contained some songs from the Many Voices album. They have been replaced by other songs from that time. The album showed Caterina & Silvio’s diversity, singing in 8 different languages (italian, english, french, spanish, portugese, dutch, japanese and greek) and each one of the languages sounds convincing, as if they speak them fluently. Well some of them they do....they have an ear for languages, but they are also true professionals all the way! Never satisfied with good, but reaching for the best they possibly can be! Just listen to songs like the japanese “Oyedo Nihonbashi” (Nihonbashi Bridge of Yédo), the greek “I melenia i yiftpoula” or the joyful spanish song “Ola Ola Ola (Mare Nostrum)”, I’m sure you’ll be spellbound just listening to the beautiful harmonies and sheer joy they have in singing! Also as a bonus you’ll find here Caterina’s english sung ‘My Fair Lady’ songs from the 1963 EP Decca SDX 2243 Stereo, recorded 12 September 1962 in Berlin and the two french songs at the end come from the french EP Series and this is Nr. 18 Decca France 460.754, recorded 7/8 April 1962 in Munich. Last but not least there’s the dutch song “Mijn souvenir” (My happiness), recorded September 1959 at the Fonior Studios in Brussels with Harry Frekin and his orchestra. The Cover and Booklet are beautifully done, on the front it shows the “Many Voices ” LP Cover, on the inside the “Caterina on Tour” LP Cover. Behind the CD you’ll find the 1959 dutch EP Cover 455.029 on which “Mijn souvenir” was released. Buy this album, put it in your CDplayer, sit yourself down comfortably with a good glass of wine, close your eyes and let Caterina & Silvio take you on a magical musical trip and leave you afterwards with a warm and relaxing feeling!

Valente In Swingtime/Love
Valente In Swingtime/Love
Price: £17.33

5.0 out of 5 stars Swinging Caterina !, 2 Dec. 2014
Caterina Valente in Swingtime this 1963 LP came also with the title..."My souvenirs from USA" on the market, same LP but different cover! Swingtime has wonderful up-tempo songs american style and the LOVE 1972 LP had more ballads. Both LPs were equally good with the fantastic orchestras of Werner Müller and Johnny Keating! Caterina's song "Never will I marry" when recorded in the studio gave a minute silence...that's how beautiful she had sung it...all musicians were impressed ! This CD release is yet another pearl in the Vocalion Caterina Series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Film songs and other instrumental goodies..., 2 Dec. 2014
This filmCDbox contains many of her Polydor / Decca hits in the filmversion and they sound quite fantastic, also there are many instrumental pieces like the "Nofretete - Tanz" which was never released on record before! We loved those movies in the fifties/sixties...they brought joy and entertainment in our everyday lives and you could dream away for one-and-a-half hour with Caterina's adventures and songs! The next day we went to the recordstore to find the singles / EPs that contained those songs...oh those were the days! Now, thanks to Bear Family, we can enjoy all these film melodies again and again..digitally remastered, on CD! It triggers memories from way back when ...way back when, when we were young! Great CD Box to have if you like Caterina Valente!

Sweet Beat/Schlager, Lieder And Chansons
Price: £15.25

5.0 out of 5 stars Caterina favorite samplers together, 2 Dec. 2014
The "Schlager, Lieder & Chansons" was one of my favorite sampler LPs and Caterina made many in her time! The "Sweetbeat" was an easy listening sampler, whilst the first mentioned was more colorfull..it contains up-tempo songs, but also ballads. Caterina could sing the phonebook and it still would sound great....she's eats and breaths music...a truly great performer of international stature!

5.0 out of 5 stars Caterina shows her italian side!, 2 Dec. 2014
This review is from: Personalita (Audio CD)
This 4CD Box with all her Decca italian recordings is a real gem amongst her re-releases! Only one pity...they haven't also done her rare CBS album "Bentornata Caterina" from 1969 and the Philips Italia single "Roma amore" 1975 and her Italdisc single"Merica Merica Woom Woom" 1970, then it would have been her complete italian material ! But this 4CD Box is great as it is now and contains many untill now never re-released songs...so enjoy!!!!
