Absolutely delightful, even if Goodbye Mog does have the sad task of teaching kids about death.

4.0 out of 5 stars American film stolen by British star., 14 July 2015

This review is from: The Watch [DVD] (DVD)
Surprisingly entertaining film with some of Hollywood's best funnymen and Richard Ayoade; who comfortably walks away with the film with an absolutely brilliant performance as the new boy to the neighbourhood doing his best to fit in by joining the local watch just in time for an alien invasion.

Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill are all reliably funny as you would expect but this really is a Richard Ayoade film as he steals it from under their noses.

Just appalling to watch as Bruce Willis goes through the motions with all the effort of a man falling asleep, how on earth he thought this to be acceptable in an actor of his calibre is simply depressing.

Nothing more can be said about this amazing series featuring an astonishing performance from Bryan Cranston as Walter White the chemistry teacher turned meth kingpin with Aaron Paul giving the performance of a lifetime as Jesse Pinkman the former student turned reluctant partner.

There should be no excuse for anybody who loves quality TV with exceptional acting and superlative directing to not own this series, buy it now and consume it as quickly as possible for the full immersive effect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Disney makes a change, 14 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A charming tale from Disney as he sough to enlarge his studios output with live action films, there is a small amount of animation but it is used sparingly and only within the daydream sequences of young Jeremiah as he desperately tries to turn a black lamb into a prize winner despite his granny objecting half-heartedly.

It is a slight tale but despite the 1900 setting it should still entertain and captivate its target audience as it did this forty something man so well.

This review is from: Coherence [DVD] (DVD)
An amazingly low budget and intelligent take on alternative universes and morality when faced with impossible circumstances, the dialogue is well structured and the entire film is an intricately plotted tale, with some very good performances (Nicholas Brendan) as a former actor dealing with drink issues being so close to his own problems that it brings out a brave but nuanced character, but it is really Emily Baldoni who surpasses all expectations as she goes from one extreme to the other all in the cause of finding a better life.

When a group of friends attend a dinner party a passing comet causes the door to alternate realities to swing open and leaves them all with difficult choices and decisions to make, what would you do?

5.0 out of 5 stars Revulsion and compulsion makes for an uneasy watch., 14 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A dark but compulsively engaging film examining the abuse of children at the titular home, with some amazing performances especially from the boys but Henry Czerny as brother Lavin is amazing, flitting from abusing his trust and the boys to self loathing and self delusion very convincingly, sadly the second half of the mini-series which details the events being uncovered falls down a little bit as we never discover brother Lavins eventual fate or of any of the boys.

Overall I would recommend this as a disturbing but essential watch for those who wonder how such things can happen, it seems that good people make mistakes trying to fix the problems with good intentions but flawed philosophies.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bizarrely I like the characters., 28 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
But I hate the fact that this shows inventiveness and clever plotting is undone by the constant use of profanity and sexual situations that goes way beyond anything needed for this show, as I say I actually quite like most of the characters in it but the excessive swearing and nudity just does not fit into the shows I really enjoy, this could have been a brilliant alternate world to Suits.

Suits has clever plotting, great characters and minimal bad language and nudity, the same here would have led to me giving this show a 5 star rating, but because of those flaws I will not even be bothering with Season 2.

1.0 out of 5 stars Censored - Laughter removed, 9 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Why oh why did the BBC see fit to release these DVDs with the slightly bad language censored, it reduces the impact of the characters and weakens the actual comedic elements.

Terrible decision that has ruined a show that provided me with many happy memories, please release it uncut and uncensored as it should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value and they actually work., 9 May 2014
This was a product that a close friend in Germany introduced me to, when I was suffering very badly with a virus and could barely squeak, sorry speak.

They were an absolute revelation to me as they provided both instant relief from the pain and were incredibly soothing with a long lasting effect, I have found these to be the most effective throat care treatment on the market thus far, I would highly recommend if you are suffering plus they have a sweet taste that fools you into thinking they are not going to work.
