This Trilogy of CDs by Rick Wakeman is an excellent collection of ambient electronic keyboard tunes with a theme of the Natural world. Don't expect grand themes in this collection, it really is the kind of music to lay back and chill out with, great if you just want to relax with a good book or to gently send you off to sleep if you have trouble drifting off at night. It could be criticised for being rather `samey' but actually that is what helps it to work so well, these are a set of gentle, melodic contemplative tracks that help you to let the stress go!

If you want to get a feel for what this music is all about then listen to the clips which Amazon currently has available on MP3, and will give you a guide as to whether or not you will like this style of music. There is also a Trilogy called the Natural World Trilogy and also an Art in Music Trilogy, but that is hard to get hold of now and again is very much in the same style

We listen to it when we are relaxing on holiday, chilling out with a good book or when we are struggling to get to sleep.

Great ambient 'New Age' relaxation music by a great musician.

5.0 out of 5 stars Decent results with a Lexmark S305 IMPACT Printer, 7 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As our Lexmark S305 multi-function printer is well out of warranty, I decided to give these replacement cartridges a go and have been pleasantly surprised. 3 complete sets of 100XL (inc. Black) for less than a set of genuine Lexmark 3 colours seemed to good to be true.

Well, they come well packaged, with an advice sheet in case the printer rejects the cartridges on replacement. When I inserted mine into the printer it complained about a 'communication error', so I just switched off the printer, checked the cartridges were correctly inserted and restarted the printer. It then proceeded to load / set up the cartridges as normal. I did notice a little bit of stray ink on the orange casing that protects each cartridge, so I very carefully used a lint free sheet to soak up any stray ink from the dispensing pad on the underside of the cartridge prior to loading to the printer. Don't be tempted to use normal tissue as this will run the risk of blockages.

Early performance has been quite acceptable for most printing jobs (I have not tried photo printing yet on high quality paper), the colours seemed to be a little muted at first but a bit of adjustment on the settings gave a decent output for everyday print jobs.

I have not been using them for long, but will update the review when I have a bit more experience of how long they last and if I encounter any problems - but so far they are proving to be a really good purchase.

Ring RAC635 Preset Digital Air Compressor with LED Light, 12 V
Ring RAC635 Preset Digital Air Compressor with LED Light, 12 V
Price: £31.78

4.0 out of 5 stars Works OK on 18" 4X4 tyres !!, 1 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this to pump the 18" tyres on my 4X4, as it was getting to be a bit onerous to use a foot pump on them. So far it has proved to be a decent piece of kit, saving time and energy to keep these 'chunky monkey' tyres at the correct pressure. It has also worked fine on the tyres for my wife's car with more standard 16" tyres.

You do need to find out if the pressure gauge on the unit reads high or low, versus an accurate and reliable pressure gauge. I found that my RAC635 reads slightly high, so I had to compensate on the pressure setting to allow for this (and the small amount of air lost when disconnecting the airline after pumping up the tyre). A friend of mine has one of these and his unit reads low - so do check how the individual unit is reading. RING do not guarantee accurate calibration of the units, so it does pay to check against something known to be accurate. ** It does make you wonder how many air pumps on petrol station forecourts are regularly checked for accuracy.

Just be careful you do not drain the battery on your car though - this depends on how much you need to pump up your tyres and how 'beefy' your battery is. Not been a problem on our two diesels, but if in doubt have the engine running when using the pump.

Plus points

* Inflation pressure is easy to pre-set on the digital display and quick to reset for both cars.

* Power cable (3 metre) and air-line (0.7 metre) seem to be long enough to get round the 4X4 and the MPV without too much trouble, but this will obviously depend upon where your power point is fitted in a particular vehicle.

* Reasonable noise levels considering that it seems to have a fairly good air output.

* Inflation times seem to be a couple of minutes per tyre (for about 5-7 psi added).

* Stows neatly in the carry case, once you have figured out the best way to re-pack the cable and air hose.

* Compact and light weight.

* The LED light is handy if using at night.

* Works as well as many pumps I have used at garages, without the need to drive there and put your 20p in the unit, only to find that it runs out before you have finished!!!

Negative points

* One annoying one so far, the instructions are just a series of diagrams and not really as clear as they could be. There are minimal notes (in a multitude of languages and which add very little to the instructions).

* The screw connection for the tyres can take a bit of practice to get started on the valves (or taking off the valves) without letting too much air out. Once you have tried it a few times it gets easier though.

After a few months use, this unit has proved to be very handy, makes me wonder why I did not buy one sooner!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable cost effective DVD+R, 21 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Definitely a good buy, reliable and stable even after a few years storage (both pre and post recording). These are rated at 16X record speed, they really do write at this speed and have never failed me yet. I have been using these for quite a while and their performance has ALWAYS been good, have not had a failure when recording video, MP3 and general data files. At the price, these are a very good product. (I am sure that the odd disc will fail, as no manufacturing process is 100% reliable, but it has not happened to me yet. With less well-known brands I have had 10-20% failure rates in the past).

These are not printable, but as self adhesive CD/DVD labels and labelling software are cheap and effective, this is not a problem for me. The main thing is that as long as you get your DVD writing program set up properly these discs work very well. Had no problems with reading the written video files in any DVD player I have tried them in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value collection of The Beat, 21 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you don't have any CDs of The Beat in your collection and would like to add some Two Tone, then this is a great buy. Basically it has almost all of their released tracks, with only a small number of omissions. A few B sides and later singles are missing I think.

A great fun 80s group who only released 3 albums before splitting up, this collection is well worth having if you like this genre of music and don't already have anything in your collection. I have not noticed any issues with quality, but we are not using any high end Hi-Fi equipment.

Given the cost of this, the release could have warranted another CD to totally complete the compilation, but hey , great fun for all of that!!

Xavax Fridge Freezer Thermometer Digital
Xavax Fridge Freezer Thermometer Digital
Price: £9.95

4.0 out of 5 stars seems to be accurate - better fixings would be nice., 21 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this thermometer for a new frost free freezer which lives in the garage. I have checked it against another thermometer which I know to be accurate and it gives a reading which agrees within a degree.

The unit measures approx. 50mm x 50mm x 15mm deep and uses one G12A alkaline battery (also known as LR43 or AG12 battery). The unit comes with a small double sided Velcro strip for fixing. The display is covered with a clear protective covering as delivered, which has an example display printed on it. (I know this sounds obvious, but remember to remove this before use!!) The LCD display is clear and reasonable to read, but should be viewed straight on rather than at an angle, for best clarity, as it is only a basic display.

I did not bother with the Velcro fixing as the unit sits quite nicely in the door to one of the freezer shelves, but some other fixing options would be useful to cope with different freezer designs.

It is simple to use with a Max/Min button on the left, each press of the button cycles between max. min. and current values. On the right is a button to switch between degC and degF . On the rear is a reset button if you need to clear the max / min memory or to reset after a battery change.

I have not had it long enough to comment on battery life, but overall it seems to be a useful and accurate little unit for monitoring freezer temperatures.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tanks come of age in WW2, 5 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Tanks! - On Campaign [DVD] (DVD)
This episode of the War File series is a general overview of tank design, capabilities and limitations in use during WW2, alongside the methods used to defeat tanks etc during the period.

This episode seemed a little disjointed in its presentation of the subject, with a habit of repeating some of the points made regarding the limitations and weaknesses of armoured vehicles. For all of that it gives a decent introduction to the increased use of tanks and associated vehicles by Germany and the Allies.

As there is limited archive footage available, you will find some clips are `recycled' throughout the series. But not to the point where it becomes too annoying. There are limited extras like an `ask the experts' feature and a `test your knowledge' feature. There are also clips from other episodes in the series. There are a few contradictions and mistakes, but generally it is interesting and informative. worthwhile buying if you are new to the subject and has a few interesting snippets of information. The archive footage does highlight what a horrendous life tank crews led and how vulnerable they were and their vehicles could be, even when striking terror into infantry.

I am slowly working my way through the series, as each episode has a different subject and therefore some information is specific to the area under review and not repeated in other episodes. It does pay to monitor prices for the DVDs, as they do vary somewhat.

The twelve episodes (in no particular order) are-

Steel Tigers
Sturmgeschutze and Panzerjaegar
Sturmartillerie
Michael Wittman - Tiger Ace
Barbarossa
The Ardennes Offensive
The Fall of France
On Campaign
The Battle of Kursk
The battle of Normandy
Blitzkrieg
Tigers in the Desert
