I needed a thermostat and timer in any case and this worked out about the same price and offers so much more functionality. Even the family seem to like it, I was worried they would find it too techy.

It was a very easy self install which took about half an hour from start to finish hooking straight into the boiler as we had no existing thermostat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good for the price, 2 Dec. 2014

Surprisingly good for the price. They are a little more sensitive to noise from clothing than I would like but careful positioning reduces this to a minimum.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very disappointing, the odd arrangements of outputs made reliably connecting both mics to the amp impossible and there were frequent bouts of interference even at very short range. In the end I sent it back and replaced with a more reliable system.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love it, 29 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Lost one star as the keyboard layout is slightly unconventional with a large 'q' key and tab on the row above but I am getting used to that.
The keyboard is very sturdy and gives my Nexus 7 all the protection it needs.

Survivors: Genesis of a Hero

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written and sympathetic to the first book, 2 Sept. 2008
Although not by Terry Nation this book picks up immediately from the Terry's book 'Survivors' telling the story of Abby Grant's son, Peter. The narration fills in Peter's experiences since the great death and leading up to the tragic ending of the first book. It then quickly proceeds to tell Peter's story as he tries to overcome that experience and develop a better and more meaningful life for himself.

This book is less about individual survival than the first, seeking instead to focus on the bigger picture and the morals of the situations Peter finds himself in. Some of the story covers uncomfortable ground and you begin to wonder where it is going but gradually we see Peter become a true visionary and worthy to be called his mother's son.

The speed with which Peter moves through the ranks and becomes a key player is, at times, hard to accept and resources seem to be far too easily available compared to the troubles the other survivors experienced. That said, the direction the narritive takes is logical and the end satisfying, if a little too predictable and saccharine for the modern reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read, with a twist ending, 2 Sept. 2008
This review is from: Survivors (Paperback)
I remember this series from the 70s though only got round to seeing it all last year (I only saw a few episodes originally as it was always bed-time!) The book follows the first series quite closely until about two thirds of the way though when it suddenly follows a new tack. Apparently this is the way Terry Nation would have liked the TV series to go but creative differences took over.

It's certainly a page turner and has you thinking how things would be these days if something similar happened. Ideal material for relaxing by the pool on holiday but probably not for the more sensitive reader. Gritty realism is the order of the day and the twist at the end is truly gut-wrenching.
