Such a wonderful voice; such a wonderful lady. No wonder she's so popular, even after half a century. This album is certainly worth the space it takes. Love it.

I just love Anna Ternheim's singing voice. This song, "Quiet Night" was the theme song used in a Wallander series It breathes Sweden: cold, lonely, sad, like "I'll Follow You Tonight": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99dh7MBysmI.

3.0 out of 5 stars The willing suspense of disbelief demands absolute acceptance, 24 Jan. 2015
This review is from: Cocked (Amazon Instant Video)
There's a massive plot-hole right at the start, which puzzled and puzzles me. Getting past that issue is hard, but I tried. What genre is it, though: comedy, drama, action...? There's a bit of The Waltons, a smidgeon of Ponderosa, some Bruce Willis, a sprinkling of Dallas. The storyline needs to be tightened and the plot-holes need to be at least explained. As for the chap getting unscathed out of an exploded car... Yet the pilot shows some promise.

I've been a follower of Tolkein for more decades than I care to remember. He took more care when writing his tales, reading forward and backward, to remove all kinks. His in-depth knowledge of Old English and Old Norse legends provided the basis of his stories, to wonderful effect.

But you already know that.

This boxed set is incredible value. It's a super gift for young and old and all those in between. But it's the best gift for yourself.

Love Nicole, but this story lacked the tension that should have been there.

Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series

2.0 out of 5 stars A disappointing purchase, 9 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
What's not obvious on the cover is that this audio CD is only one small part of the Foundation Series: Book 1 Part 5, The Merchant Princes. It's like buying what seems to be the unabridged Canterbury Tales, to find that all you have is The Merchant's Tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awful, awful, awfully funny, by accident, 9 Jan. 2015

He really was an awful, awful poet, a paragon of awfulness. Anyone who fancies herself or himself as a poet should read this book, to learn what not to do. It really is so bad that it's incredible funny. Worth reading aloud on Burns' night.

The Cosmos: Astronomy in the New Millennium
The Cosmos: Astronomy in the New Millennium
by Jay M. Pasachoff
Edition: Paperback
Price: £40.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but ..., 9 Jan. 2015
The Cosmos provides an excellent introduction to the universe. The photographs are simply amazing, the text is clear and "accessible". The pages are physically heavy, probably to prevent bleed. This does, however, make the book very heavy--too heavy for the relatively flimsy covers. Covers that are appropriate to the physical attributes of the book would make it a better purchase. Published in the autumn of 2013, it was already out of date. Were I designing such a book, which treats on topics that change, expand, or are re-interpreted almost daily, I'd provide it five-hole punched in a ring binder, with pages numbered by section/chapter. This design would accommodate easy and regular updates, probably on subscription, to keep the book at the top of its league.

I want to give this book 4.5 stars. That' s 4.5 stars for the content at the time of publication, and 4.5 for the book design.

When I learnt that Laura Wright (no relation, as far as I know, but we Wrights are dead common), I expected "more of the same", though "the same" was always so brilliantly sung. This album, though, really is outstanding. I'm really glad that Laura's at last been allowed to spread her wings
