This Thing of Darkness: Fiona Griffiths Crime Thriller Series Book 4
This Thing of Darkness: Fiona Griffiths Crime Thriller Series Book 4
by Harry Bingham
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.74

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as the strange death., 21 April 2016
I'm struggling to not read this in one sitting. Without doubt Fiona Griffiths is mesmerising as the detective who thinks and then steps out of the police procedural box. A great creation. I'm now going to read another few chapters.

The Strange Death of Fiona Griffiths: Fiona Griffiths Crime Thriller Series Book 3
Price: £3.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling, 18 Mar. 2016
Picked this book in a two for one deal. Rereading after a few months. Ingenious and detailed in the minutiae. But the main reason I give five star rating is because it's so enjoyable.Recommended particularly for fans of noir with a portion of hard boiled.

Coup d'Etat (Dewey Andreas Book 2)
Coup d'Etat (Dewey Andreas Book 2)
Price: £5.22

5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfyingly realistic., 26 Jan. 2016
Plutonium isn't mined. That's out of the way. Reminded me of Homeland and Rubicon TV series. If Homeland had been as good as this then I might have watched more than 2 episodes. The characters are suitably restrained in conversational grandstanding. However the political depth and decision making together with great descriptive scenarios award it 5 stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Big is better?, 18 Jan. 2016
This review is from: The Great Zoo Of China (Paperback)
This could've been much better. CJ s athleticism and sexuality unexplored. The dragons size absurd. I actually hoped in the early chapters that these creatures were manufactured as a hybrid crocodile pteradon .

Hanayama News Puzzle

5.0 out of 5 stars Examine the evidence., 21 Dec. 2015
This review is from: Hanayama News Puzzle (Toy)
I solved this puzzle , not by chance; although I can see how it's possible to dismantle by accident; but by trying to understand its assembly.

Baghdad Central
Baghdad Central

4.0 out of 5 stars The chaos of post war., 28 Nov. 2015
This review is from: Baghdad Central (Paperback)
Got this book from the library on a whim. Persevered over the first few pages before I realised that I was reading something different enough to keep going. Not what I would call a page turner more a read a few chapters and reflect. I am more inclined to think Nelson Algren rather than Kafka.

Runaway
Runaway
by Peter May
Edition: Paperback
Price: £3.85

5.0 out of 5 stars 1965 and 2015, 5 Oct. 2015
This review is from: Runaway (Paperback)
1965 Quarry Hill, an accurate depiction of the Leeds I remember. A group who had very little to lose in 1965 and even less in 2015. Spare and isolationist portrayal of the discomforts of travel in both era's. Bleak gritty plot almost in David Peace territory.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... characterisation relate to Matt Damon in the movie The good shepherd rather than Bourne as has been suggested, 22 Aug. 2014

The pacing and characterisation relate to Matt Damon in the movie The good shepherd rather than Bourne as has been suggested. A long slow enjoyable read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Teen fiction, 20 April 2014
This review is from: King and Maxwell (Hardcover)
Interesting plot would make a two part NCIS tv show or similar but that's it. No depth vague attempts at criticism of US government agencies and foreign policy for the adults and non visceral violence for the teens. Not a Winner.
