Great British Bike Rides: 40 Classic Routes for Road Cyclists
Great British Bike Rides: 40 Classic Routes for Road Cyclists
by Dave Barter
Edition: Paperback
Price: £19.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the book I was looking for..., 23 May 2013
My husband and I are avid cyclists that live in the States. We previously bought Dave Barter's "Obsessive Compulsive Cycling Disorder" e-book (for about $0.99) and LOVED it. So when Dave's new book came out, we couldn't wait to get it. This is a different book than his first. His first book was so enjoyable because of the simple, honest hilarity of the descriptions of his rides that it was like someone had a camera on my rides and they were peeking in.

The new book "Great British Bike Rides" is a guide book for 40 rides around Britain. It includes all the statistics a true data hungry cyclist would like to see about an impending ride. He has included many different aspects of the ride profile so you can find out just exactly what you're getting yourself into. This includes the length and duration of the ride, the route profile, the hill analysis, the motivations (scenic, wild, classic, challenging), a good place in which to start the ride (which includes gps coordinates), the best season(s) in which to actually ride the route, what gearing you should use (seriously...I love the amount of data he gives!!), etc. He also provides a shorter ride option for those that either bit off more than they can chew or are short on time. And you also get little snippets of Dave's humor throughout the book. I can't wait to get over to Britain to give these rides a try! Keep up the good work Dave!! When's the next book coming out?
