5.0 out of 5 stars Intense and intimate, 14 Oct. 2013

This album is an intense and intimate experience. Numan translates the feelings he had during one of the most difficult parts of his life into music that is his, and his alone. It is unmistakably Gary Numan, and yet it is new, fresh, challenging, engrossing and rewarding. There are the tiniest echoes to early works - the young Gary Numan of Cars and Are 'Friends' Electric and others - in the lyrics, the musical elements and the singing style. But this is a mature album - of a man who has seen and experienced much, thought much. Some tracks nearly lose the song in a crashing wall of sounds; others are near ballads of simplicity. This album cannot disappoint.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for the price, 19 Jun. 2013

The best thing I can say about this is that it was cheap. Everything about it says "value range" rather than quality. The handle is too short so wheeling requires a bit of a low lope, and it's not very stable when doing so. The wheels are made of a plastic that is very noisy when wheeling compared to other wheeled luggage I have used. The material is clearly cheap and the zips have that feeling that they won't withstand much strain. However, again, it was cheap.

4.0 out of 5 stars A moving finale, 11 April 2004
This review is from: Naqoyqatsi (Audio CD)
You will be moved by this soundtrack. With Yo-Yo Ma's extraordinary cello Glass breaks the mould of his first two Qatsi tracks by focusing on a single instrument. Yet by reprising the first two in tantalising thematic glimpses he reminds us that this is a denouement, a rounding off of a film and music synergy that has spanned 20 years. Twenty years that took us from the chilling times of Cold War and superpower arms races to a new global threat -- that of terror and of politicians who manipulate public reaction to achieve foreign policy goals. Life as War in 2004? "War is Peace" in "1984". The music is beautiful - the message stark.

4.0 out of 5 stars A literary twist in time, 1 Oct. 2002
A great opening scene, some sparklingly witty dialogue mixed with Heinlein's own brand of proselytising ensures that this is more than a SF romp -- we meet old friends, make new ones and get to reflect there's always Time Enough for Heinlein. Not for someone new to his works, though.
