1.0 out of 5 stars Only for those who want to see every Franco film, 13 Sep 2014

One of the worst Franco films I have seen. Lots of sex - though the word rutting comes to mind. The high point, sorry LOW point, is when two of the women kill the man and have sex on his body.
One for the Franco completist only.

2.0 out of 5 stars Typical 1980s Emmanuelle - only for those who don't know better, 13 Sep 2014
Well, she is in Venice for the first part of the film, and to be honest the lesbian scene is decent (worth four stars alone). But then it goes downhill as most of these 1980s onwards Emmanuelle films do.
Overall the film is a patchwork of odd scenes. The film starts with odd sex scenes as the titles roll, then we see Sylvia Kristel and George Lazenby on a plane. Then we are in Venice, before the film goes anywhere else, including a clip from an orgy scene and ends up with different actresses in India. And oh, there seems to be two sets of credits. I do wonder if 'Venice' was never a full movie and the other bits were added to give it a fuller length.
If you don't care as long as there is sex in the film, then it is watchable. Otherwise there are better ones out there.

I had high hopes of this film, but gradually found myself losing interest in the main characters - two married people with cheating (and neurotic) partners, who become friends then lovers - as they gaily carried on without anyone caring and seemingly not caring about the effect on their partners or children. I kept hoping someone would stir things up by having a go at them. The lack of this simply made me lose interest in what seemed to become a study of people i would hate to know.
It is passable as a comedy, though i found most of the characters funny peculiar. The cheating couple belong to what I can only call a dysfunctional family who ignore the goings on, even allowing their children free access to knowledge of their own sexual affairs, and one 17 year old who when asked what she wants to do replies that she would like to spend time planning and then committing a murder - pity she didn't murder her parents! Now that would really have been funny.
The film is a passable hour and a half which could have been better spent watching something about interesting people.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable horror flick, 8 Sep 2014
Enjoyable low budget horror comedy about a simple farm boy who goes on the rampage when his pet goats are killed and wipes out a film crew. Some of the killings are OTT (and at least one impossible - can you swing a double handled saw through the air and cut someone in half) which make it fun to watch. Though I am not sure why it starts with two girls making out in the farmhouse - perhaps an aperitif before the blood.

have watched several WIP films which were just about watchable but this one is awful. The usual women at the mercy of prison officials and other prisoners but without the usual violence and sex. Whatever sex scenes were originally filmed are non-existent in this version - well, there was one but the picture went out of focus as soon as it began! Pity to see the great Herbert Lom in this crap.

This DVD was annoying. The first thing that you see is a screen asking if you want to see English or French. Then if you click on English you get English subtitles - and if you click on French, you get French subtitles!! Neither apparently removable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why 'comedy collection'?, 10 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Four stars for the sex and nudity in these films, though not for the fourth film (one star and that's being generous).
But why has it been called a 'comedy collection'. The first two films had some moments, but 'Love camp', especially is definitely not a comedy, with women subjected to violent sexual intercourse, whippings and violent deaths.Okay it had Laura Gemser in it, but her character was unpleasant and vicious.
'Pussycat syndrome' is a typical 1970s European exploitation movie about two girls enjoying sex with men and women they came across, while 'The sinful bed' was a entertaining story of a bed and those who used it through the years. 'The exhibitionist' was more a drama, about a man who takes part in live sex acts and can he keep the girl he has fallen for.
An odd mixture considering the compilatiion title, with the first two entertaining romps followed by a couple of films that are definitely not.

Having never come across this Emmanuelle title before, thought i would give it a shot. A Spanish film from 1978 and using the Emmanuelle name, its the story of a fashion designer who discovers her husband is bisexual and runs off into her own sexual adventures.
A bit of an odd entry in the Emmanuelle series as it has more lesbian scenes than heterosexual.
Despite the usual acting and sex by numbers, it is enjoyable, though the last 15 minutes or so seems disjointed - like when the two women, presumably drugged, run dancing across a field in skimpy dress for no apparent reason, especially as the scene is shot from a distance.
With Spanish audio and no subtitles, I did loose the reason for some things happening. But enjoyed it nevertheless.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does the original full version actually exist?, 4 Aug 2014
Originally banned in the UK, watching this DVD won't show why. In fact i wonder if this version is how the film would have been seen here after the censor had used his scissors on it and allowed it in. You won't see why it was banned, just an intimation of why it might have been by scenes leading to something not shown. In fact one sex scene that is in the film is shown out of focus.
Worth watching to get an idea of its notoriety, but otherwise an expensive way to watch a classic without the relevant scenes.

This review is from: Without Men [DVD] (DVD)
Enjoyable little comedy about what happens when all the men (except the priest) are taken from a small town to fight in a civil war and their women are left to fend for themselves. Which they do, even finding an answer to what to do about sex. The idea that they would all seek sexual relief in each other is implausible, but is handled well with most of the relationships more hinted at than visually shown.
In fact the DVD cover is misleading, as the film ends up being a gentle lesbian romance between Eva Longoria and one of the women. Christian Slater only appears in shots as a journalist covering the civil war, though one of the best scenes is when, having heard of the town of women without men, he goes there and strips off his kit in front of them only to find they are not interested.
If i did find a flaw it was in that all the women were of a certain age and attractive. Where were the children or elderly women who would have presented arguments against what was happening. But then that was not what the film was about, being an entertaining story of women taking the chance to be totally independent of men.
Great fun and I'm glad i bought this film without knowing much about it at the time.
