5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, 4 Dec 2012
This review is from: Hugo Tate (Paperback)
A wonderfully scripted metaphysical rite-of-passage. Hugo Tate is as good as writing gets, comic or otherwise. It's dream-like qualities are a wonder to behold and like the best literature once you have started you will find it hard to put down. Perfect.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the film Rodney Bingenheimer deserves, 14 May 2011
I was really looking forward to seeing this documentary but was very disappointed. Rodney Bingenheimer has such an amazing, interesting story that it deserves so much more than this half-baked, meandering production. This film is pretty much a total waste of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars essential, 10 Feb 2011
A truly wonderful collection of film and animation. Ruminations on the cyclical nature of time and life, the interactions of shape and movement. And the letter P, R and Y. I can't properly put into words how beautiful this DVD is. Life affirming? Yes. It makes me feel like a child again in the most adult way. Not nostalgic, it just fills me with a complete sense of joy and wonder.

It's Too Late To Stop Now: Live (2CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars A peak, 15 July 2009
The best live album ever released? Of course it is. An absolute flawless masterpiece with probably the best vocalist with probably the best band playing at the top of their game. Couldn't recommend this more.

5.0 out of 5 stars vastly underrated, 15 July 2009
This review is from: Goats Head Soup (Audio CD)
I personally adore this album and can't see why it has such a bad rep. Yes it came after an amazing run of flawless albums but the only real flaw this album has is the expectation of living up to the previous albums. Listen to 'Winter' and 'Coming Down Again' and tell me you're not blown away. The Stone's are at their peak and doing what they do best. On another note, I'm just reviewing the album not the reissue.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but..., 15 July 2009
This review is from: Keep It Simple (Audio CD)
Now for an artist who's been releasing records since the sixties and who many would say has past his peak some thirty years ago this isn't too bad an album. The only problem is it's Van Morrison we're talking about and his peaks are so high we expect something extraordinary and this album is just good. The songs are on the whole great, nothing to really match his previous best (and I would personally rate the mid 90's album 'Magic Time' amongst his best) but it's the stale production that lets the whole thing down. Every song sounds sonically similar to the previous one so by the end it becomes hard to distinguish between them. Saying all of that I do love the song 'Keep It Simple'...

4.0 out of 5 stars classic rock n roll, 15 July 2009
This review is from: Que Sera Sera (Audio CD)
Johnny once again delivers an album of classic punk rock tunes. While the production is a little too pristine the songs more then stand up for themselves with 'Blame It On Mom', 'MIA' and 'Tie Me Up' being personal highlights. This release comes with a few bonus tracks of which 'Que Sera Sera' is the only worthwhile inclusion, I mean who needs another version of the completely off target reggae tune 'Cool Operator'.

3.0 out of 5 stars good, in a funny way......., 26 May 2008
This review is from: Rock n Roll Animal (Audio CD)
a good album, but its very odd hearing songs like 'heroin' and 'white light/white heat' played with all the pomp of a classic queen song..... honestly give it a chance, it is a good record, just nothing like the velvet underground at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars twin peaks soundtracks are always 5 stars., 4 Mar 2008
'moving through time' is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i've ever heard... worth paying 7 for. you also get 'sycamore trees' from the last episode of the series and the off-the-wall hip hop of 'a real indication'. a brilliant soundtrack.
